Why Can't My Life..., by Melinda R. Cordell

Revisado: 10-06-17

This was a very fun and quiet little story about a girl with a crush on a boy, lacking the self esteem to tell him so. As she always does, Cordell fills the story with enough details and knowledge that you KNOW she's pulling from her real life.

And the reader was excellent. I hope she does most, if not all, of Cordell's future books.

Would you listen to Eden Forever again? Why?

Yes, the narrator really brought the story and the characters to life.

What other book might you compare Eden Forever to and why?

None come to mind, I'm usually a horror or comic book reader.

Have you listened to any of Leslie Howard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I definitely would.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed in several places, yes.

Revisado: 12-20-16

If you could sum up Memoir of a Writing Porn Star in three words, what would they be?

Smart. Sexy. Fun.

What other book might you compare Memoir of a Writing Porn Star to and why?

I can't think of any, this is a unique reading experience, like no other book I've read.

Did Peter Stewart do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, I detected a definite shift in ... "attitude" ... when switching between characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It definitely made me laugh in several places, but later, when the author got to the review section, it made me sit up and take note and see some familiar stories in a very different, well-thought-out light.

Any additional comments?

I've been reading this author's work for years--well over a decade--and this book just validates why; I've been writing reviews of my own for 20 years, but she's still way better at it than I'll ever be.
