Historia
It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

die hard Suzanne Collins fan but maybe no longer
Revisado: 12-10-24
i am going to be overly critical as Suzanne Collins literally got me into reading when i was a teenager. her stories are believable and well developed and i was excited to hear more about Snow. howvever i found this story just had a cop out ending. like it made me so angry because i truly believe she is capable of doing better. what would have been believable is Snow became a coldhearted b-word because he was scorned by a woman. the ending was really ramping up and you could feel the tension about to break. but instead we got a slow fizzle out that basically left me going "wtf was that" and i want to buy the book just to throw it across the room. setting the stage for his phantom hands to just do things of their own accord is crooked and a cop out. "he had no control over his hands as he lifted the rifle and fired" that is a load of horse shit. it was like she had no idea what to do with the very well set up romance Snow had manipulated.
i swear if she does Hamiche that dirty i will literally drop her from my library. very disappointing . 2 stars for labor on the story 5 for the actor's performance. 2 star overall because i am very mad. and i waited 2 months to write this because otherwise I'd have been so much more angry. do better.

Historia
Nice Victorian ladies don’t run off to find legendary lost cities. One trifling little arrest shouldn’t have cost Ellie Mallory her job, but it’s only the latest in a line of injustices facing any educated woman with archaeological ambitions. When Ellie stumbles across the map to a mysterious ancient city, she knows she’s holding her chance to revolutionize Pre-Colombian history. There’s just one teensy complication.

I didn't dislike anything. the thing is, this book was so beautiful and hit so many of my tropes, i actually cried at the end. the slow burn was perfect, the chemistry was brilliant. Thank you

When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

amazing but triggering
Revisado: 09-21-22
i first read Twilight when i was 13. i was so excited to finally read this. i was not disappointed however as someone who struggles with self demonizing and depression i do not like the way this book's mood made me feel. i know Edward has a hard time and blamed himself however i do not like the plot they chose that leads you into New Moon.
****SPOILER BELOW****
you realize his decision to follow thru with his trip to italy is more to keep himself from indulging her in her desire to truly be with him and that is just a level of self sabotage i can't accept. he plotted his own demise solely around her desire to join him because, like myself he assumed she saw him the same way he saw himself and would rather die than turn her, but also specifically to avoid coming back in the future when she is older and killing her. i just dont see how after that, the relationship was salvaged.

Revisado: 09-08-22
i liked the story BUT the narator(female) was just meh. i wasnt really impressed and it almost made me stop listening. at first i thought she was supposed to be snobbish given the whole gold everywhere theme but when that clearly wasnt the case i still wondered why she sounded like she struggled with word enunciation.

tear jerking
Revisado: 07-24-22
I've officially read them all. I was so excited at the end and it just wrecked me. I bawled like a baby. SJM has become one of my favorite authors. I have read a lot of books and by far this series is one of my favorites.
From the beginning the MC has been a very realistic and well designed. the way SJM managed to bring things full circle was just amazing. my ADHD would have me dropping an arch just because I forget.
the last 20 minutes was enough to bring me to tears. but this whole book was just a masterpiece.

loved it
Revisado: 05-28-22
while I loved it I noticed a few inconsistent plotlines. if you are reading this, you have finished the first one so SPOILERS AHEAD
When she signed her contract, unless I am mistaken, the captain of the guard was there with her when the king told her who he would kill if she failed him. and yet in this story she acts like Chaol was not supposed to know this tidbit? but I swear they mentioned he was in the room and remained emotionless when this info was dropped....
the story other than that was great but that bothered me immensely.
