A short humorous paranormal horror story in which Tamara has a few days off work so she grabs her keys, credit cards, and her little dog and hits the road for a spontaneous road trip. She tries to dismiss her growing paranoia, but it just keeps getting worse. It couldn't have anything to do with that weird little bone her her dog dug up out of the garden...could it?

Tamara sets off on a roadtrip in search of a mystery and finds it in a bookstore. Rita, the proprietor, is an engaging character, and the narrator brings her to life with humor and style. A couple of times I laughed out loud at Rita's snarky quips. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will love this surprising, quirky, and twisted tale!

Techno thriller? Or hard science fiction? Either way, it’s excellent!

Breathtaking near-future techno thriller

This well thought out novel includes numerous advanced tech--AI, nanotech, artificial gravity--and packs it into a hard-hitting adventure. My favorite aspect was Ledbetter's creative and intriguing take on AI. I was fascinated by the different AI personalities and their interactions. Kudos to the narrator for breathing (artificial) life into those characters.
I enjoyed the breathtaking power and promise of nanotech. Ledbetter points out the risks of AI, nanotech and terrorism, but also offers hope. I appreciated the space aspirations and agree about the urgency of diversifying humanity's presence.
This book gives readers a lot to chew on, both on a fan level and an intellectual level. As a fan and aspiring author of hard science fiction, I recommend Level 5 to anyone who loves future technology, and I really hope to read a sequel.
