Historia
As the United States wrestles with its besetting sin—slavery—abolitionist John Brown is growing tired of talk. He takes actions that will propel the nation toward civil war and thrust three courageous women into history: Wealthy Brown, married to John Brown's oldest son; Annie Brown, John Brown's daughter; Mary Brown, who never expected to be the wife of John Brown, much less the wife of a martyr. Spanning three decades, John Brown's Women is a tale of love and sacrifice, and of the ongoing struggle for America to achieve its promise of liberty and justice for all.

I was simply bored. The reader was not thrilling to listen to.
The Arthur used the word "hissed" far too much. The storyline itself was overall pretty good. Some things that were written, I'm my opinion could have been left out. it was if there was a word count that she was trying to reach.

I love Dr. West and her husband Ira. I met them while attending Chapel on Dahlgren base. This book was so motivating. I wish that I had met her in my youth. I wish that someone would have mentored me. I will gift this book to all 10 of my grandchildren. Her life and experiences were/ phenomenal.

Historia
In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a Black African father and a White American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a Black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father - a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man - has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey - first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family.

wow! just WOW! The reader was simply awful. I don't know where she got that terrible slang dialect? her pronunciation of several words were laughable. I was so glad to get to its end.
The book was ok. a lot was left to the imagination. The ending was disappointing.

When two Union soldiers stumble onto a plantation in northern Georgia on a warm May day in 1864, the last thing they expect is to see the Union flag flying high - or to be greeted by a group of freed slaves and their Jewish mistress. Little do they know that this place has an unusual history. Twelve years prior, Adelaide Mannheim - daughter of Mordecai, the only Jewish planter in the county - was given her own maid, a young slave named Rachel.
