Historia
One year after the death of his beloved musician father, thirteen-year-old Benny Oh begins to hear voices. The voices belong to the things in his house—a sneaker, a broken Christmas ornament, a piece of wilted lettuce. Although Benny doesn't understand what these things are saying, he can sense their emotional tone; some are pleasant, a gentle hum or coo, but others are snide, angry and full of pain. When his mother, Annabelle, develops a hoarding problem, the voices grow more clamorous.

I really tried but no. DNF
Revisado: 06-28-24
I probably would have enjoyed this when I was 11-13 years old. I really tried to enjoy this but it never really got any better. I don’t believe the characters and the story isn’t all that interesting. Had to DNF.

Historia
Born under different stars—Mungo a Protestant and James a Catholic—they should be sworn enemies if they’re to be seen as men at all. Their environment is a hyper-masculine and sectarian one, for gangs of young men and the violence they might dole out dominate the Glaswegian estate where they live. And yet against all odds Mungo and James become best friends as they find a sanctuary in the pigeon dovecote that James has built for his prize racing birds.

Wow… Just… Wow…
Revisado: 06-02-24
Wonderfully written with well developed characters. In my opinion, Mungo is the most realistic depiction of a character with autism that I’ve ever read. I definitely felt seen. Definitely recommend this one!

This hurt
Revisado: 06-01-24
This is the best book I’ve read in a long time. You will get attached to characters. You will be uncomfortable, and reading this will hurt. You will tell your friends and family how great this book is and also tell them not to read it.

Historia
Di Canzio follows their story past the end of Maurice to the front lines of battle in World War I and beyond. Forster, who tried to write an epilogue about the future of his characters, was stymied by the radical change that the Great War brought to their world. With the hindsight of a century, di Canzio imagines a future for them and a past for Alec—a young villager possessed of remarkable passion and self-knowledge.

Great continuation of Forster’s “Maurice”
Revisado: 05-08-24
I rushed to this novel after finishing Maurice. Di Canzio did an excellent job capturing the feel of Forster’s classic. If you enjoyed its predecessor I have no doubt that you’ll enjoy Alec.

Creative idea, would definitely do well as a limited series

I kept hoping it wouldn’t end like it did… It had to though. I would definitely recommend this one! Give it a shot!

Waiting on the Netflix adaptation 🔥🔥🔥
Revisado: 04-12-24
Thoroughly enjoyed the story, and appreciated a setting that wouldn’t allow characters to simply gun their way through the zombies. Looking forward to the sequel!
