Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

Graphic and weird
Revisado: 01-29-25
This book pulled me in because I couldn't tell if the woman was having a mental breakdown or living in the moment. A few hours in, the sexual stuff got weird and way too graphic. I don't mind a little sexy in my stories but this was too far.

Included in this volume are famous figures, such as two-time Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie, as well as individuals whose names will be new to many, though their breakthroughs were no less remarkable. Great Accomplishments
Revisado: 10-17-24
Loved the first 3/4 however, the last two chapters dragged to the point of nonsense. They hyper focused on the particulars of the exact discoveries even though the average layperson has no idea, (and doesn't care), what it is. It ruined the book. It was beyond boring and ruined the experience. It felt as if a second writer came in at the end of the last two chapters.

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

I Had No Idea
Revisado: 09-25-24
I love this honest and raw account of these young ladies. I had no idea morbidly obese people had all of these physical obstacles. It broke my heart when she fell. I have a lot of compassion for overweight people and the struggles they face.

Incredibly Slow
Revisado: 09-22-24
I wanted to like this. I toughed it out for 2 hours. It was an incredibly slow narration of a woman who had a child stolen. There is a futile attempt to peak interest with a "mysterious note", but the distraught mother's rambling drowned out any interest. I do not recommend.

But one evening, there’s someone else on her bench - Hunter. Tall, wry and infuriating: everything about him gets under Iris’s skin. Little does she know that he's about to upset more than just her routines...

I would only recommend this book to someone who is desperate to listen to an incredulous and predictable story. I didn't make it through the book; I was unable to suspend reality enough to buy into this book. Can't believe anyone would rate this book above a 2.

Good plot but rambled on and on and on...
Revisado: 10-20-15
I am an English teacher so I love long eloquent verbose stories. However, the story and movement needs to have purpose. The description in this story is filler and makes the story irrelevant and boring. Details are a device which add to the story- this novel has details to make it a novel....
