Really surprisingly suspenseful. Characters i like - like s of quirky ones. The good guys stay good guys, but some of the iffy guys are good and some are bad guys! It’s a fun read!

Historia
New York, 2061: The place called the Pleasure Academy is a living nightmare where abducted girls are trapped, trained for a life of abject service while their souls are slowly but surely destroyed. Dorian, a thirteen-year-old runaway who’d been imprisoned there, might never have made it out if not for her fellow inmate Mina, who’d hatched the escape plan. Mina was the more daring of the two—but they’d been equally desperate.

Very Engaging
Revisado: 02-14-23
As someone who’s listened to all of this series - most books multiple times - it’s fun to come across such a complicated and captivating plot. I always appreciate the ever-evolving relationship between Dallas & Roarke, as well as Eve’s own maturation, coming to terms with the world. Lately, it’s been fun to see more into her relationships with her squad members.
Highly recommend starting with Naked and listening straight through. One book a week will take you a full year!

Rocked me from page one!!
Revisado: 12-11-22
Burke did a great job with this book - much of it resonated with the protestor/baby boomer in me. If anything brings it down, it’s the reader - she didn’t differentiate between the voices enough, and gave no pause when starting a new narrator/speaker. The geneticist was almost a parody of the bad guys from old cartoons.
Absolutely LOVED the portrayal of the president and his foolish followers. Sensitive handling of people who had never examined the lies before. Good job, Sue Burke!

Compelling but disturbing
Revisado: 10-13-22
At the end of a book, I usually like to feel that something in the world (within the book) has righted itself. After putting us through all the trauma warped Cat and disappointed Vivian, it seems as if Cat will get away with killing and other atrocities, and Vivian is literally left adrift.
Yes, that is sometimes how things work in real life. But I don’t read to experience the disenchanting - I believe in the ultimate nobility of the human spirit and hope that -in the end - some of that will show through.
I don’t think I’ll read this author again.

Three women who, in some way or another, know the meaning of betrayal....For team leader Rachael Lambert the project is the perfect opportunity to rebuild her confidence after a double-betrayal by her lover and boss, Peter Kemp. Botanist Anne Preece, on the other hand, sees it as a chance to indulge in a little deception of her own. Too Many Characters
Revisado: 06-22-22
I was about 40% through this book and tried to return it. I couldn’t keep everything straight and Vera hadn’t even come into the story yet! The return was denied for some reason, so I decided to finish it after all. It got a bit better once Vera was in it, but still, at the end , I knew who done it and why, but have no idea how Vera figured it out. Maybe later books are better.

Historia
Erin Coleridge's used bookstore in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England, is a meeting place for the villagers and, in particular, for the local Jane Austen Society. At the Society's monthly meeting, matters come to a head between the old guard and its young turks. After the meeting breaks for tea, persuasion gives way to murder with extreme prejudice when president Sylvia Pemberthy falls dead to the floor. Poisoned? Presumably, but by whom? And was Sylvia the only target?

Characters were quirky, though it took me a while to keep them straight. Loved all the Austen quotes and the P & P cat names and the personality profiles like “Lady de Berg.”
Narrator was superb with the varying accents. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!

Not EVERY entanglement is settled but the most troublesome villains are dealt with. Im glad Archer decided to end this, as the last few weren’t very challenging. And I’m looking forward to the new series “The Glass Library”
