Great book! I laughed until I cried. Sedaris has a unique style of telling about his family and life. if you Are feeling a little blue this author is for you. in the most heat wrenching moments of life he has. coped by finding the humor and by trying to see things through the eyes of others. He addresses the responsibilities of families in a refreshing way.

there's a lot of gaps in the plot. the plot could be more well-developed with less sex scenes. less is more

there's a part of this book where they start alternating from regular sound to one that almost has an echo. when you listen pay close attention because this is done for an effect so you can distinguish between the present day people and those of the past. I found that quite clever once I figured it out but I had to replay the first section they do this in. if you're looking for a short listening that's a good book you'll find this one very to your liking I hope

this woman continues to be one of my idols and this book is well balanced emotionally... Morning the funny stories you may want to sit down for because you could last so hard you would fall down

this book has everything in it relationship-wise is funny it has a serious moments that said moments and those moments when you think you know what's going to happen next but you don't
if you are in recovery or know someone who is this is a must-read and if you're not in recovery and I've heard that term before it's also a must-read I liked it so well that I bought it for a cousin of mine who is in a 12-step program of recovery as a birthday gift... It takes a lot to hold her attention but I know when she receives this in the mail this week that she won't be able to put it down as I was not able to quit listening to this

Narrator is excellent. Human characters are well developed ... the plot has many excellent surprises as the dog Journeys and when the journey ends.

Scones and books and friendship

wasn't really sure if this was the book I should listen to right now. however the narrator hooked me in right away and the story had so many twist and turns that I found myself listening to it when I woke up and when I was driving and when I was going to sleep at night. there's just enough romance going on to add to the story and make it realistic. there's a good looking paramedic who has his part in this book and a dog that he rescued and has special needs introduces him to one of the heroes of this book. I hope you enjoy it too

stuck in traffic then listen to this book

I love to listen to audio books on my drive to and from work and when I have to drive is part of my job. I don't get upset if I get stuck in traffic or if traffic is slow or rerouted when I have a good book to listen to. although I normally listen to mysteries and crime novels that have a comedy twist I listened to this book and left probably more than I have with previous audiobooks I've listened to.
even if you don't like animals The Adventures of the author as a guide will make you laugh until you cry.

was worth listening to

although the second book in the trilogy was very hard to follow at first and about halfway through it I listen to it knowing that there would be pieces or parts of it or perhaps all of it which would have information needed for the final book out of this trilogy. the ending and the last quarter of the book had many twist and turns and marvelous revelations. that was when characters from the second book of the trilogy came in and we finally get to know exactly their part and how important they are to this fascinating story. ask yourself do you believe in love? do believe in magic? do believe in the power of the unseen? do believe in anything that you haven't already been taught? if you don't believe in any of these please read the trilogy you owe it to yourself

it may take a few minutes to get used to the accent but once you are you may find yourself being pulled into a story feeling you are in Ireland listening to a master storyteller of years gone by.
