It’s not quite woke. Not woke at all! My favorite scene was with the Sumo wrestler. The voice acting was on point! It was perfect ! The music matched very well.

I already finished both seasons of the anime. Im also reading the manga in conjunction the light novel audiobook. I listen during my daily commutes and I just picture the scenes in my head from both mangaa and anime. I’m loving it! Even though I prefer the Japanese pronunciation of the names since my introduction of the series was in Japanese (I have been living in Japan since 2014) the narrator does an awesome job!

Change of flavor

Most fantasy settings I’ve read are of Euro-style flavor. This is the first I’ve read that has a Han Dynasty flair. I like it alot! Actually loved it. Low magic & technology driven. Gods influence via proxy. It’s really awesome! Though I’m a fan of high magic, Tech development in a low magic setting is good too.

I was hooked from from the start! The cover with kanji (Japanese pronunciation of Chinese characters) has a couple of meanings; kara=empty or sora=sky. It's perfect for the first book! It is fitting. Not to put in spoilers but to start with zero, no natural affinity then be able to grow for oneself makes a good Wuxia. I'm reminded of Gou Jing in Condor Heroes. I'm ready for book 2!
