Historia
Jack Lee is a white lawyer from Freeman County, Virginia, who has never done anything to push back against racism, until he decides to represent Jerome Washington, a Black man charged with killing an elderly and wealthy white couple. Doubting his decision, Lee fears that his legal skills may not be enough to prevail in a case where the odds are already stacked against both him and his client. And he quickly finds himself out of his depth when he realizes that what is at stake is far greater than the outcome of a murder trial.

Stand Out
Revisado: 12-15-24
This is in my opinion David Baldacci’s best book.
Strikes deeply into one’s emotions. Portrays the massive injustices inflicted on others through blind racism

Historia
Detective Superintendent Jack Hawksworth of Scotland Yard has headed up three major serial operations, and in each of these cases, it seems he has lost a part of himself. He is burnt out and taken a shift sideways for a while, taking on a low-profile role of desk investigator out of London that's looking into whether a global crime scam exists. But when a number of young women start returning home ill and dying after travels in Europe, Jack uncovers a shocking black-market operation, with links that lead him all the way to a crime syndicate in South Australia.

This is the 3rd Novel I have listened to by Fiona and again totally engaging and enthralling. What made this one ever more so was being a born and bred South Aussie now living away from home all the references to places in Adelaide and Wallaroo etc took right back there. Beautiful memories.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Such a masterpiece of writing again
Revisado: 12-10-15
What a shame Harper Lee didn't write more. Such an amazing author. Style was quite different to To Kill A Mockingbird but the message so powerful . Atticus stood such an influencing symbol of humanity to me from To Kill A Mockingbird that I was there every inch of the way with Jean Louise as she stood there on the precipice watching her idol collapse only to find salvation in a new form. Pure brilliance.
