Not Steven King's best, but still great!
Revisado: 11-05-24
Steven King writes a lot of detail in the book and covers numerous story lines which makes for a great read. However, it can be challenging to keep up with all of the different characters. There are a lot in this one.

Book was Average
Revisado: 11-07-23
The real story behind this book is interesting and I'm glad someone made it into a book. That said it seemed to drag on at times. I like that they used 3 different narrators for each "Chronicle" but the 3rd chronicle was extremely dry to listen to and was not nearly as story-like as the first two parts. I agree with another comment that sometimes the book was like a textbook about the crimes but some readers may enjoy that more than I did.

Historia
A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Advice to a "Temptor" of the Devil
Revisado: 08-04-22
This book is slightly creepy. The letters are sometimes hard to follow but the book is great and follows Wormwood, who is receiving advice from the Devil via his Uncle Screwtape. The creepiest part is the toast at the end. It has too many parallels to today's society.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Historia
Antonio Mendez and his future wife, Jonna, were CIA operatives working to spy on Moscow in the late 1970s, at one of the most dangerous moments in the Cold War. Soviets kept files on all foreigners, studied their patterns, tapped their phones, and even planted listening devices within the US embassy. In short, intelligence work was effectively impossible. The Soviet threat loomed larger than ever. The Moscow Rules tells the story of the intelligence breakthroughs that turned the odds in America's favor.

Revisado: 10-04-21
This book does a great job of introducing readers to some of the inventions and techniques which were developed to help the CIA's missions in Russia. It is interesting but the most recent information is regarding stuff from before 1990 (30 years ago); Still a fascinating collections of stories.

Historia
The Perfect Weapon is the startling inside story of how the rise of cyberweapons transformed geopolitics like nothing since the invention of the atomic bomb. Cheap to acquire, easy to deny, and usable for a variety of malicious purposes, cyber is now the weapon of choice for democracies, dictators, and terrorists. Two presidents - Bush and Obama - drew first blood with Operation Olympic Games, which used malicious code to blow up Iran’s nuclear centrifuges, and yet America proved remarkably unprepared when its own weapons were stolen from its arsenal.

Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and the second best-selling book of that century, following the Bible. It is credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day." A thrilling and important piece of American literature!

I bought this story out of curiosity and it changed my perspective on a lot of things. An absolutely heartbreaking story which shows a minute glimpse into the emotions of people involved with slavery.
