After listening to the 10% Happier podcast on this book, Dan Harris and Amber Tamblyn got me hooked and curious on this subject. The topic of women's intuition and personal stories from different voices and experiences sounded like a fantastic idea. I really wanted to love this book but did not. Although I did like a few of the stories, I did not really get anything concrete out of the book. I found myself bored, skipping to the next chapter and not wanting to finish it. Many of the stories rambled, were way too long, or became weird, esoteric and seemingly off topic.

Although it liked the ideas and stories of retirees, I could not complete because the author continually repeated the same concepts and explanations.

Redundant masochistic physical challenges

Although I found this book interesting in parts, it went into repeated excrutiating details about Goggin's masochistic self challenges and they eventually became redundant. I was not offended by the language and F bombs, but was highly put off around chapter 4 when he referred to having sex as "getting pussy" and I almost stopped listening. In the end, I decided that if you are looking to take on a large physical challenge, you might like this book. I am not. And although he does try to relate his experiences to other types of challenges, he falls short.

Michelle shares eloquently and honestly about herself, where she comes from, and what she stands for. She also writes beautifully about what it’s like to be The First Lady, and the first family including the workings of the White House. Most importantly she leaves the reader with hope and the truth that big changes comes slowly. I am inspired by this book and God knows we all need inspiration right now. Thank you Michelle.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Make it shorter and the characters more real

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The concept of the story is interesting, but the characters were annoyingly predictable and redundant in their behaviors.

What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

She does a good job of differentiating the many characters.

Do you think The Host needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No - enough is enough

Any additional comments?

I had heard that unlike the Twilight books, this was written for adults, but I was really dissapointed with the writing. It felt like Stephanie Meyer had to spell out every single detail to the point of beating it to death, leaving no room for the listener to form their own conclusions or thoughts on anything. I stayed with it to find out what would happen, but found it annoying and will not read/listen to her again.

Would you consider the audio edition of 11-22-63 to be better than the print version?

I have not read the book but loved the audio book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 11-22-63?

The main character's decision about whether to "reset" things or not.

Which scene was your favorite?

Leading up to when Jake/George comes in contact with Lee Harvey Oswald on the infamous date.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

If you could change history, would you do it?

Any additional comments?

I couldnt wait to listen - great story!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely - fascinating man, well written story and very good reader.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Steve Jobs?

The repeated fact over his lifetime that he was so driven to change the landscape of technology and the way people use it.

What does Dylan Baker bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

This was my first audio book so I have little to compare him to, but I think he did a very good job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Best takeaway was when a bigwig told Jobs "I am a recovering assaholic, so I know where you're coming from". I'm going to use that line...

Any additional comments?

I wish the book had more about Job's personal life - his personal relationships like with his parents and friends. The book had some, but most was about his professional life.
