Historia
Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

Great story, so-so reading
Revisado: 04-27-25
James Franco's reading didn't do much for this book. It felt like being read to by your enthusiastic but unskilled college roommate who's sharing his Vonnegut kick with you. His voice was monotone, he didn't seem to understand some of the intended cadences and phrasing of the book, he mispronounced a few words (calvary instead of cavalry, twice, for example), and his attempts at British accents was just sad. So many of the Audible performances are fantastic, but this one was disappointing.

Kind of a bummer
Revisado: 10-28-23
I'm a huge Buffy and Angel fan, so I was ready to love this, but it let me down. It felt like some actors were reading rather than performing. The pacing is really off and I found myself skipping fights and lengthy dialogue that didn't add much to the plot. Tara's talks with her non-verbal monkey familiar just about killed me. This doesn't capture much of the goofy, snarky energy I want from Buffy. Instead it's got lots of clunky exposition, boring dialogue, and it's weirdly a downer, with characters spending a lot of time rehashing off-stage trauma from an alternate Buffy multiverse that we're not really invested in. It's great to hear Spike and Cordelia together again, but I don't know how I feel about a "deep" Cordelia. She's not much fun. Mostly this was a snooze. So sad!

loved it

I'd seen the film many times and loved it so the book was a treat. Genuinely creepy story. Plenty of bumps in the night.
