Sorry, but just seems to miss the mark.
Revisado: 09-20-24
I enjoyed the first two or three sections, but after a while, it felt like the author hadn’t really trimmed down the content. It seems like it turned more into a general book on how to teach your child things and deal with their challenges, then it did seem to address specific ADHD needs. Unfortunately, the narrator was too upbeat and became very distracting. It felt artificial or something, but I almost didn’t finish the book due to the amount of bounce in her voice. It felt peppy and fake, when I’m trying to deal with a very serious situation for my child.

Powerful and insightful
Revisado: 11-13-23
Mr.Perry holds nothing back in retelling his life. His story shows that even with amazing fame and money, addiction is never beaten. It is always there, up and down, up and down, he went. This is a touching book full of familiar references, if you grew up watching Friends. He does a lovely job with the narrations too. Highly recommended if you have anyone in your life who deals with addiction, as it gives you insight into their struggle.

Your projects, programs, and career turn on the difference between "no" and "yes". Yet selling ideas, especially the kinds of ideas that make organizations work, is a skill shrouded in mystery. Part emotional intelligence, part politics, part rhetoric, and part psychology, selling ideas is not like tricking someone out of his money. It's about helping others to see things your way: engaging their minds and imaginations.

A gift of knowledge
Revisado: 03-11-23
This book was recommended to me by my current mentor at work. It is an excellent collection of understandings we all need to have when working with colleagues and dealing with politics, while trying to drive strategies in our organizations. It is also great for those who may struggle with managing emotional intelligence in tough workplaces. The narrator has an excellent voice, and reads extremely well. Where I normally would speed the book up to 1.5 speed, I enjoyed his voice and kept it at the regular pace. Definitely a great production for those who want to grow as leaders.

Historia
The world of investing normally sees experts telling us the “right” way to manage our money. How often do these experts pull back the curtain and tell us how they invest their own money? Never. How I Invest My Money changes that. In this unprecedented collection, 25 financial experts share how they navigate markets with their own capital. In this honest rendering of how they invest, save, spend, give, and borrow, this group of portfolio managers, financial advisors, venture capitalists, and other experts detail the “how” and the “why” of their investments.

Great content, bad, male narrator
Revisado: 01-06-23
This is a terrific book, and I encourage anyone interested in the insights to listen to it. I picked up a few things I hadn’t heard about before and learned that we’re not far off in our own approach to financial investing.
I had a hard time, listening to the male narrator. He’s got this great DJ voice, but it sounds very pompous for the book. I expect his style goes really well for radio commercials and perhaps TV commercials, but I struggled with it for the long form narration.
The female narrator was great.

In Made to Stick, Chip and Dan Heath reveal the anatomy of ideas that stick and explain ways to make ideas stickier, such as applying the human scale principle, using the Velcro Theory of Memory, and creating curiosity gaps. Along the way, we discover that sticky messages of all kinds—from the infamous “kidney theft ring” hoax to a coach’s lessons on sportsmanship to a vision for a new product at Sony—draw their power from the same six traits.

Not amazing
Revisado: 12-02-22
I’m not sure whether the book is just dated or a bit too generic, but overall I wasn’t blown away by it. I feel like the framework isn’t as clear as I would have liked it to be coming out of the book.

It's more influential than advertising and far more effective. Can you create word of mouth for your product or idea? According to Berger, you can. Whether you operate a neighborhood restaurant, a corporation with hundreds of employees, or are running for a local office for the first time, the steps that can help your product or idea become viral are the same.

Visionary but a bit hard for tactical use
Revisado: 07-24-22
Peter’s storytelling and retrospective views are certainly compelling and are worth a listen to. But they will at most change your perspective on how you view the world. The insights will lead you to say no to more opportunities than yes. That’s not a bad thing, but don’t expect this book to give you practical zero to one tips on the day to day. They are more on the strategy level.

Full of detail and methodical in pace, it will pull you in
Revisado: 05-11-22
When I first began listening to this book, it felt like a Harry Potter style experience. Pretty quickly turned into a more deeply written and enriched experience where every moment is teased out with deep emotion and detail. I generally do not read a lot of fiction, as I’m always interested in business books. However, I found myself looking forward to the moments where I could continue learning about the Sanctus children and their adventure. The good guys and the bad guys are very nebulous in this book, making it very hard to tell where the fate of these children lies.
The tails embedded within the book take you on all sorts of mini adventures with moles, dragons and rams, for example. The quality of the audio is good, and the narrator does a great job of managing voices and emoting. You end up really caring for this little cadre of kiddos.
This is a great experience, and I highly recommend you read it, if you are a fantasy reader.
