John is a thirty-five-year-old bachelor with a huge online following for his woodwork and craft videos. While he normally spends his weekends picking up chicks from dating apps, he'll be spending tonight alone due to an imminent snowstorm. Or so he thinks. When twenty-one-year-old Hannah--his little brother's girlfriend--knocks on his door just as the storm is blowing in, John's night takes a wild and unexpected turn. Immature writing makes it boring and tacky

Disappointed by the ending, good until then
Revisado: 08-12-24
Narrators all were fantastic! The story was fun until the last quarter… then it got cutesy and flat and boring. The ending tipped it over into immature. Just disappointing when there were so many directions it could have gone towards the end.

Not sure the author has ever interacted with an actual high schooler…
Revisado: 07-04-24
The aggressively correct and “sophisticated” speech from teenagers is beyond off putting!
But a decent (slightly immature) mystery story and really good narrators.

Historia
Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed. Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again. The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs.

Cute, sweet, predictable

Cute story, enjoyed the characters and the world building was decent
A little too predictable and simple for my preference but still a really sweet little book

Fantastic!
Revisado: 01-13-22
After the first few chapters, I thought it would be cute but underwhelming. But it really wasn't! The complexity just keeps building, but in a subtle way that's not overdone. Really good story, great characters, and a fantastic world.
The narration was also wonderful! There were a few times where I thought it must be a second narrator, just because the voice was so perfect for drastically different characters that it didn't seem like it could be the same person. Really well done!
Looking forward to seeing where this series goes :)

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Instantly one of my favorite audiobooks
Revisado: 11-28-19
The range of voices done by the narrator and attention to details like speeding up and slowing down to match the scenes made the story even better in audio form than it would be in just print. (And print is almost always my first choice!) This is one of the best books I've found that blends modern day characters with epic fantasy. Great story and *fantastic* narrator!
I'm looking forward to more from both.
