Historia
Tom Hazard has a dangerous secret. He may look like an ordinary 41-year-old, but owing to a rare condition, he's been alive for centuries. Tom has lived history - performing with Shakespeare, exploring the high seas with Captain Cook, and sharing cocktails with Fitzgerald. Now, he just wants an ordinary life. So Tom moves back his to London, his old home, to become a high school history teacher - the perfect job for someone who has witnessed the city's history first hand. Better yet, a captivating French teacher at his school seems fascinated by him.

It was just one thing after another. The narrator did a good job but the story was rubbish. Nothing good happened nothing worthwhile happened and there was no point to the story.

Historia
Ever since her life took an unexpected turn, Nan Powell has enjoyed living alone on the sun-drenched shores of Nantucket. At sixty-five, she’s just as likely to be found at Windermere, her beach front home, as she is skinny dipping in her neighbor’s pool. But when the money she thought would last forever starts to dwindle, Nan decides to do something drastic to keep hold of her free-spirited life: open up Windermere to strangers.

When I bought this book The synopsis sounded like it was going to be about an eccentric 65-year-old eccentric woman on Nantucket. It sounded light and breezy and fun.
In actuality, it was all about divorce and infidelity with foul language sprinkled in.
There was way too much about peripheral characters that I didn't care at all about and way too little about the main character Nan. The narration all sounded the same; very little difference between the voices of the characters. It was difficult to keep up with where and who it was jumping around to.
I'm still listening because I'm hoping somewhere near the end maybe it will finally meander to the story I was expecting but I do not have high hopes.

A narrowboat-based audio journal on canal life, living aboard, the elements, and the night. Perfect late-night listening for dreamers, insomniacs, night owls, nocturnalists, drifters, and nomads. For lovers Fagen's 'Nightfly', Auden's 'Night Mail', Hopper's 'Nighthawks' and the 'drifting sea-dark streets' of Dylan Thomas. For all those who used to listen to the transistor under your pillow, love the sound of distant trains and rain against the windowpanes, canals and drover's tracks, lost music, splashed puddles, fireflies and bats, hares by moonlight, windsong among pines, owl-light, the ...

Just beautiful.
Listening, I feel the tension leave my mind and body and remember the healing power or reconnection with the natural world that is always there but so often overlooked.

Send us a textThese are the days of swan nests and duck eggs, but the call of a lone swan circling overhead, perhaps captures more precisely the tensions we feel moving through the seasons. The seasonal shifts in the activity of the swans and ducks are becoming increasingly visible reflecting the wider patterns of movement. Boats leaving and others moving in. Everything is in a state of transition; we are all in a state of transition. Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

What a nice escape from everyday worries!
Revisado: 11-21-21
It was just what I needed to take me away from the news and this world for a little while. It had just the right balance of sci-fi and snark and I never did guess where the story was going, which made it even more enjoyable to reach the very satisfying conclusion.

Not a happy story
Revisado: 11-02-21
Not what I was expecting. This is about abuse and violence. Abuse of animals, abuse of children, abuse of family It felt more like the author was trying to rid himself of past demons than to tell a story of redemption and resilience. Not for me.
