Historia
Everyone thinks my husband is dead. Just like we planned. Eleven years ago, my husband disappeared. Eleven long hard years I waited, my heart breaking for our son, who didn’t know his father was coming back. Today, my hands shake as I try to understand what I’ve just learned: my husband has a new wife. This wasn’t part of our plan. Eleven years ago, my husband made a terrible mistake. I sacrificed everything to help him fix it. But now he’s put our son and me in danger again. We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

Suspenseful, twisty & turny
Revisado: 01-26-25
Although I struggled a bit in the beginning, trying to keep up with the introduction of characters, I was eventually able to settle into the story and enjoy it. I never figured out what really happened on my own. Instead, I had to wait until the end of the book, which is a plus for me.

Historia
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter. But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house. A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.

I'm truly annoyed
Revisado: 09-30-23
I can't recall the last time I felt this annoyed with a book, if ever. I'm not even finished with it yet and I'm writing this review because I can't understand why the main character would be written this way. She's weak and clueless and whiny and unreal in my opinion. I can't seem to like any of the family members/characters - they're just. not. likable. I kept on with the book because the first few chapters were entertaining enough and caught my interest, but after that it seems like everything is just repeating... and what's up with the 'I don't know why this is happening" aspect of the story when it's very obvious what's happening?? I don't get what the author was attempting to do at certain points - meet a word quota?
This review is being written at chapter 28, and at this point I need to speed up the playback just so that I can finish because I don't like to leave books unfinished. I at least want to give it a chance to get better again, and I do hope it gets better so that I can update my review in a more positive way.
I do enjoy the narrator. I think she's very talented, and probably the reason I've made it this far in the book.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

I give up...
Revisado: 07-31-20
20 chapters and more than 2 months in, and I stil can't keep focused on this book for more than 15 minutes at a time. It ends up becoming background noise for ne. I've tried to care about and connect with the characters, but I just can't. With so many good reviews, I feel like maybe I'm missing something, which is why I've continued to keep reading and hoping FOR 2 MONTHS but. I have to face reality, this isn't the one for me.

Meh... not horrible or great
Revisado: 07-14-20
IMO, this story can be summed up in 3 words - procrastination, dishonesty, and frustration-inducing. Did it really take a whole book to tell THIS story??

Historia
It's the most dangerous case of Will Trent's career. He knows this from the moment he sets foot in the abandoned Atlanta warehouse where a body lies on the floor—the body of an ex-cop. Bloody footprints leading away from the scene reveal that another victim, evidently a woman, was carried away and has vanished into thin air. And, worst of all, the warehouse belongs to the city's biggest and most high-profile athlete—a local hero protected by the world's most expensive lawyers.

Not enough character development
Revisado: 07-10-16
I never felt connected to any of the characters or found myself rooting for anyone in particular. For me, this book is simply a way to pass the time... it's nothing special. The narrator didn't impress me either - his speech seemed a bit rushed. I generally love books written by Ken Follet, but this one really surprised me, in a bad way.

Historia
Gideon calls me his angel, but he's the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own. The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn't sure I was strong enough to bear.
