I loved The Grieving Brain so this was a natural follow up. So helpful to understand everything that is going on in your body.

This was the first book I have ever returned on Audible. It plays out as more of a scientific history of AIDS than a FM book. Not at all what I expected.

While many will simply write off this as a disgruntled trainer getting back at Seaworld, it isn't. It's the story of boy with a dream who worked hard to achieve it and then learned the insider truth about the animals he loved so much. Compelling story and eye opening about the conditions these majestic and intelligent animals are kept it.

As a professional dog trainer, I was pleasantly surprised at the content and accessibility of this book. It's a great primer for those interested in animal learning and the science of how dogs learn (hint: it's got nothing to do with packs or leadership). All hail BF Skinner!

Loved this book. It was full of really touching stories, struggles and experiences of Dan's life and it is read perfectly. It's not going to convert anyone to his side of things so I wouldn't recommend it if you aren't like-minded but it sure made me laugh and cry and I even came away with some relationship tips for my own life.

I finished this book in two days! It was a greatly informative and educational peek into the science behind our animal kin...not just dogs but primates, dolphins, whales, even ants.

While I wriggled a little bit at some of the lab experiments, the outcomes are enlightening. This is a great book for anyone considering a career in dog training or just looking to understand how our counterparts communicate, feel and survive despite not communicating verbally.

Experience the AT without leaving home!

This book makes me want to hike more! I learned a lot about the history of the AT and enjoyed the stories of Bryson's travels. I really enjoyed his sometimes hiking partner (and all of his issues) and also hearing about some of the odd people they met along the trail. The AT sounds intimidating, amazing, spiritual, enlightening and beautiful. It's a good read and a great way to experience the AT a little bit without strapping on a heavy pack and getting blisters on your feet.

The reader was very enjoyable - nice tone and a few character voices. Definitely a good choice!

A touching collection of stories that show just how insightful, intelligent and emotionally bonded people and their dogs are. There are several tear jerker stories and most of the stories end with the dog dying somehow. But, the stories are well told and just helps demonstrate what most dog lovers already know - that their dog is really their best friend.

An eye opening peek into the world of rescue from kill shelters and gas chambers down south to private and volunteer transporters to rescues and fosters and finally to adoption and forever homes. This book is a very informative read and has a heartwarming story of a journalist looking to track down the history of her rescue dog. Along the way she learns so much about tax payer funded "shelters", about so called rescues and about how thousands of dogs are saved (and sadly about the 10K per day that aren't.) It's eye opening and touching. It's sad and uplifting and I challenge you to read it and not walk away compelled to volunteer, donate or support rescues in some way. Don't shop, adopt. And always spay/neuter.

An eye opening look into the big food business including how they intentionally trick consumers with shady marketing, how they use scientists to formulate precise equations to make processed foods as addictive, cheap and satisfying as possible so we go back for more and how when the food industry ran into trouble they turned to their friends in the tobacco industry to help them navigate through the obesity crisis...and still come out ahead.

The supermarket is a battlefield, as the author says. And I will never look at potato chips the same way. Excellent, informative read. Pass the fruit, please.
