This is a collection of stories (some interesting, some not) of the people Peter Wolf has met over the course of his life. If you wanted to hear about Peter’s experiences as a DJ on WBCN or his time with J Geils you will be disappointed.

Great story, great characters, great performance!

I eagerly looked up the next book by Brown and was surprised (and a bit disappointed) to find out this was his debut. Oh well, I guess I will have to wait for the next one.

But if you haven’t listened yet, do it!

Dark, interesting ride

Molly McGhee’s debut novel is a dark, spellbinding ride into what humans are willing to do to to survive and fit into what they perceive for society. I suspect this is the first of many novels.

Andrew’s narration is excellent.

I really tried but I just couldn’t listen to the narrator…

I got through 8 chapters because I really wanted to listen to the story, but Henning’s pre-school voice inflections were just too much for me. Probably one I should have read instead of tried to listen to.

Good, but… disjointed?

I am a big fan of Peter King - I firmly believe he is one of the best living writers today.

Billy Summers had me hooked early on, and I looked forward to where he was taking us. However this story was a bit rambling for me. The original story line was abandoned midway & the characters introduced were mostly dismissed, rarely to be heard from again. Then there was another goal for Billy, and then another.

There were also a couple of teasers introduced that were never followed up on like the memory of the plastic bags on the telephone lines (I think that’s what it was - it’s hard to go back and find things in audible) & the lurking COVID-19 pandemic. Frankly it felt to me as though the story needed some good editing for content.

Paul Sparks’ narration was solid. He did a nice job creating voices for different characters.

Overall I enjoyed Billy Summers, but this one isn’t a King book I’d go out of my recommending.

Solid story. And a scary because it could happen…?

Mathew’s story pulled me in, and with quite a bit of unease. In fact it put me in a bit of a funk after listening the first couple of hours. But a good, compelling story that will keep you listening.

Taylorson’s narration was solid but unspectacular. Sometimes characters would sound the same as other characters, but otherwise does a good job.

Only Earle’s narration can do justice to Earle’s storytelling

A captivating story by a captivating story teller. It’s hard to turn off once you start it.

I like Elvis a lot, but not so much his autobio…

Perhaps if he told it in a straight forward narrative it would be more interesting, but I finally gave up on it with around 10 hours left to go.

Shepherd & Cavett: how can you go wrong?

If you are a lover of the movie, then it’s worth the credit. If you also happen to like Dick Cavett, then even better. Enjoy!

It’s Mark Twain, but what else can you rate it?

It’s a great story, and well read. I know it’s not very PC but Twain was clearly showing you how people thought and spoke at the time - that part of it was more reporting than writing. Enjoy the story.
