Historia
Everyone in Ashford, Cornwall, knows Meg Nichols and her daughter, Grace. Meg has been selflessly caring for Grace for years, and Grace - smiling and optimistic in spite of her many illnesses - adores her mother. So when Meg is found brutally bludgeoned in her bed and her daughter missing, the community is rocked. Meg had lived in terror of her abusive, unstable ex, convinced that he would return to try and kidnap Grace…as he had once before. Now it appears her fear was justified.

Gods story, difficult to determine who was speaking.
Revisado: 01-15-20
This book was an easy listen. The ending was somewhat predictable from the very beginning but it was well written and the slight twist was a nice addition. I had a difficult time telling which character was speaking as the primary male character sounded nearly identical to the secondary female character. The character changes are quick with very little difference in the narrator’s voice.

Historia
Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes - meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven. But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 10-24-18
I could only make it to chapter 9. The whole first part of this book is about sex. The narrator sounds constipated and is annoying to listen to. I’m returning this book.

Historia
From the outside, Essie’s life looks idyllic: a loving husband, a beautiful house in a good neighborhood, and a nearby mother who dotes on her grandchildren. But few of Essie’s friends know her secret shame: that in a moment of maternal despair, she once walked away from her newborn, asleep in her carriage in a park. Disaster was avoided, and Essie got better, but she still fears what lurks inside her, even as her daughter gets older and she has a second baby.

Challenging to follow
Revisado: 05-09-18
I loved this book. The story and the narrator were fabulous. One thing that may have been easier if I was reading rather than listening.... The characters are incredibly hard to follow. This book is written from the points of view of so many characters, at times, I had no idea who was who and who was married to who...

Story made up for the narrator's lisp
Revisado: 04-23-18
A gripping story made up for the narrator's extremely obvious and distracting lisp. Glad I stuck with it, loved the unexpected twist.
