The Julianna voice was a bit too posh. We get who she is without it. Other than that, great story. Great narrator.

Historia
Hi, my name is Bree Camden, and I’m hopelessly in love with my best friend and star quarterback Nathan Donelson (so is half of America, judging by the tabloids and how much the guy dates). The first step is admitting it, right? Except, I can never admit it to him because he clearly doesn’t see me that way, and the last thing I want is for things to get weird between us. Nothing but good old-fashioned no-touching-the-sexiest-man-alive platonic friendship for us! Everything is exactly how I like it! Yes. Good. (I’m not crying; I’m just peeling an onion.)

Historia
Death is a topic Bradford Douglas is intimately familiar with. The young attorney is on a crusade against capital punishment. He’s saved a number of death row inmates, but none of his cases has been as tough as the one he now faces: Henry Combs, a vicious serial killer, has only hours to live when Douglas is summoned for a Hail Mary attempt to have the man’s sentence commuted to life imprisonment. As Douglas races to pursue whatever strategies he can think of, he finds his passion for justice giving way to something altogether different. An obsession.

The ending
Revisado: 01-26-24
The ending did not make sense. Poor writing.
Could have written it diffetently. It turns from an elegant mediocre story into an unprofessional patchwork.
The ending that was supposed to salvage the story ended up destroying it.

Historia
Meet the Wolf. Joe Wolf. He’s the head of a multibillion-dollar empire—a newspaper, a holding company, a football team—and the head of a family that puts King Lear to shame. His empire shows signs of crumbling when he’s approached with an “offer” to sell. It’s clear from the start that Joe is going to pay the ultimate price—and maybe more—if he refuses.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Bone to pick with Wheaton.
Revisado: 08-15-21
Addition: Wheatons choice to switch accents in midsentence is like bugging a video game. His skil level is 5 stars, but I will lower it to 1 star. He chose to make the book less immersive for listeners when he chose to switch accents at inappropriate times. Here is the original review.
Will Wheaton is a wonderful narrator. I've listened to him in a couple of projects, and he deserves an eternal 5 point rating in every single project, including this one. He is intriguing, he is imaginative, he is a pro.
I chose to give him three stars instead of five.
Before I explain, I want to say one thing about myself: I am not an American citizen and I do not speak with an American accent.
Now, here is the deal, Wheaton: LAPSING INTO AN ACCENT DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON.
And speaking with your own accent does not make you a bad person.
When the characters of Deito and Shoto are introduced, Wheaton keeps lapsing into a fake semi-Japanese accent whenever he uses the name Shoto. Later on he will do the same with Deito, as well with other words. Would anyone lapse into a new accent if a character was named Dietrich? If there was a plotline about a guy named Dietrich who travels from Israel to Lebanon, would you lapse into four different accents in one sentence? Will you go from American to German to Israeli to Arab accent?
You want to do a Japanese accent when reading the lines of a Japanese character? That's fine. But don't lapse into it every single time you use their name. You wouldn't lapse into a British accent every time there's a reference to Prince Harry, naturally.

Yeah, I went through it. Scared not to.
This concept and story are important, especially for young people.
The story:
Predictable, especially the reveal. There are a lot of good characters but many of them felt somewhat interchangeable, and didn't get to shine until the very end.
Narrators: Laura Knight Keating and Therese Plummer are two of the best narrators I listened to (along with Andi Arndt and Julia Whelan). They made it feel real, and I hope I bump into them in future audiobooks.
