Great performance decent story
Revisado: 11-26-20
Great performance by the narrator, but the story was only decent. Perhaps it was due to my dislike of Jane. I'm not sure. Regardless, I will probably still read the next book in the series.

Worth every minute
Revisado: 04-12-20
This is a brilliant collaboration because of a brilliant book! I became so vested in the characters due in part to the great writing, great translation, and great performances. The talent of each contributor shines through the entire product.
I look forward to reading or listening to more from Murakami. He wrote in a way that answers questions I had, but also presented new questions. Like for instance when certain things about Tengo's mother are revealed, and then you realize that the same thing happened to Aomame's police friend. I was hoping for some type of reveal, but realistically I knew it couldn't happen because it was too close to the end of the series. Also, I liked how each character is truly flawed, at least in the American way of viewing things. There was no completely innocent virtuous perfect character. They were all so realistically normal in the sense of being human. Even with that being the case I was still able to find characters to root for, yet if I had known people like them in real life I would shy away from them. I think for this reason I truly enjoyed the book. I really hope to experience Haruki Murakami again.

Greatness!
Revisado: 04-01-19
I waited a while before starting this book because I wasn't sure if would be able to handle let alone enjoy the material. However, this has to have been one of the best fantasy and adventure stories I have ever experienced. It was made even better for me because the characters' physical descriptions looked like me.
I wasn't able to predict the story either. I kept wanting for an ending where the task was accomplished, but I wasn't sure if they were up to completing it. I really enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to the sequel.

Historia
Indy Savage is a former wild child (okay, maybe not so "former") and current used-bookstore owner. Lee Nightingale is a former bad boy and now runs a private investigation service. Toss together a quiet barista with a not-so-lawful side-business, a crazy Vietnam Vet, a pothead, a drag queen, family and friends who will not mind their own business, a few stun guns, and a bag of diamonds, and mix them all up with some shootings, a high-speed chase and car bombs exploding, then hang on for your first wild Rock Chick ride.

Good start, but got bad too soon
Revisado: 07-08-18
I feel like I wasted a credit. The main chick Indie seems like such an idiot to me. I love bad ass female characters, but this chick keeps doing dumb stuff to put herself and others I danger. I'm only 7 chapters into the book, but I'm so irritated by this main character that I had to write this review now. I'm forcing myself to keep listening, and oh, I really hope that it gets better. Even if it doesn't get better at least Susannah Jones makes it bearable. Kudos to her.

This Story Gave Me a Fever!
Revisado: 11-13-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Give Me Fever to be better than the print version?
I would say yes only because Shari Peele can bring a story to life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
That is a tough question. Both Jade and Kaeden were such dynamic characters, but I think I would have to choose Kaeden. He was such a complex character and different from so many of the men I know. As a woman, I usually relate more to the female characters, but in this case I felt like I could really relate to Kaeden.
What about Shari Peele’s performance did you like?
Shari Peele's performance was just awesome in this book. Shari Peele has the ability to make both the women and men characters sexy. She is just the perfect narrator for contemporary romance books. I love her accents, especially the one she uses for Garcelle.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, this is a book that I didn't want to turn off. If I could have stayed put for the entirety of this book I would have.
Any additional comments?
The Strong family is a family I love to revisit. I love getting to know this family. Jade and Kaeden were the first members of the family I met so they naturally have a special place in my heart. Still, I like their story the most because it seemed liked they had a lot more outside influences to have to survive through.

Billie is Tough!
Revisado: 11-13-14
What does Thomas Penny bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Thomas Penny is a great narrator. I enjoy every book that he narrates. He covers accents well, and he can really bring a story to life.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I really loved the fight scene. Billie was a character that had so much depth, and I am so glad that Ms. BJ decided to tell her story.
Any additional comments?
Andrew and Billie actually reminded me of people I know. Their story was very enjoyable. I liked the interactions between Drew and his son too. There were a lot of good components to this book.

Good Story. Okay narration.
Revisado: 07-17-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this book to a friend, as I would with all BJ novels. However, I would suggest that you read the book before listening to the audio book. I think you could get the wrong impression of how great a writer Ms BJ is if you only listen to this performance.
What didn’t you like about Shari Peele’s performance?
I usually love Shari Peele's narrations. In fact, I was excited to see that she was narrating this story. However, this was not one of her best performances. The meter was off, and it was very slow. It felt like it was dragging. Also her voices sounded pretty similar, especially the male characters. Her accents were also off. I have heard her do a really good Spanish inflected English accent in other audio books, but in this one it was just off at times. I love her narration of modern stories, but I didn't really care for her performance of this historical romance.
