Great Sci Fi Premise but lacks plot development

Pete makes great voice overs and YouTube clips (check them out). But the book unfortunately did not convince me. It is basically one continuous chase scene with no logic to it. The MC and his girlfriend travel from A to B to C with no really story developing between chapter one and the last chapter. Could have been a great short story. Most of the book is just filler.

I live in Denmark and this was a good way to further improve my Danish. There are not so many good Danish audiobooks. So this was a pleasant surprise.

Waste of Money for me

I picked this title from Audiuble's list of Top Ten Titles for Spy Stories. Unfortunately I had not read the other reviews before since that would have warned me. The book is no typical spy story. So far as I can see after listing to one third it is an impressionistic story of the South East Asia. In parts it reminds me a it of Somerset Maugham but without the wit. So it was no good buy for me. However, to save Audible's honor: I found "The Company" on the same top10 list and that WAS a good spy story. Win Some loose some.

OK A SPy Novel it ain't

Having read the reviews I must agree that this is not your typcial spy novel. It probably wouldn't take more than half an hour to tell the plot of the story without missing out on anz of the facts. However, the fun for me lay exactly in the languid pace. This is NOT a fast pace spy thriller but rather a very slow description of spy work during the war. And as we should know by now spying is 95% boring preparation for 5% thrilling action. WEB gives the 95% a human face and paints a facinating picture of the characters.
