Historia
To the wider world, Al Pacino exploded onto the scene like a supernova. He landed his first leading role, in The Panic in Needle Park, in 1971, and by 1975, he had starred in four movies—The Godfather and The Godfather Part II, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon—that were not just successes but landmarks in the history of film. Those performances became legendary and changed his life forever. Not since Marlon Brando and James Dean in the late 1950s had an actor landed in the culture with such force.

So real.
Revisado: 12-06-24
He reads like he’s performing. It’s so real, like he’s telling it, not reading it. It’s wonderful. The only other reader I’ve heard that’s this good is Meryl Streep. Pacino is a blessing to those of us who love actors. This is a fascinating story.

Historia
From its debut in 1962, Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? was a wild success and a cultural lightning rod. The play transpires over one long, boozy night, laying bare the lies, compromises, and scalding love that have sustained a middle-aged couple through decades of marriage. It scandalized critics but magnetized audiences. Across 644 sold-out Broadway performances, the drama demolished the wall between what could and couldn’t be said on the American stage and marked a definitive end to the I Love Lucy 1950s.

Absorbing, detailed, well written
Revisado: 03-21-24
The reader mispronounces so many words, it’s exasperating, but she nevertheless gives an excellent performance. No sing song here, she’s really good, has lively energy and makes it interesting.

Historia
In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. As Lara recalls the past, her daughters examine their own lives and relationship with their mother, and are forced to reconsider the world and everything they thought they knew.

Wonderful love story
Revisado: 03-01-24
The only way to improve a book by Ann Patchett is to have Meryl Streep perform it. It’s a full on performance, and it’s a tapestry of beauty. Voices, characters, and a delicacy of story typical of Patchett. I never wanted it to end.

As wonderful as ever.
Revisado: 12-28-23
It’s a continuation in the truest sense and amazingly satisfying. Thrilling too, in the battle parts, but still mostly the love story, of Jaimie and Claire, Roger and Bree, Masali and Fergus, et all. Loved it.
Also, Davina Porter’s narration makes these characters spring to life!

Historia
Walt thinks he might find the answers he's looking for among the ruins of an old Native American boarding school—an institution designed to strip Native children of their heritage. He has been haunted by the image of the Fort Pratt Industrial Indian Training School ever since he first saw a faded postcard picturing a hundred boys in uniform, in front of a large, ominous building—a postcard that was given to him by Jimmy Lane, the father of Jeanie One Moon.

All Things Bright and Beautiful is the beloved sequel to Herriot's first collection, All Creatures Great and Small, and picks up as Herriot, now newly married, journeys among the remote hillside farms and valley towns of the Yorkshire Dales, caring for their inhabitants - both two- and four-legged. Throughout, Herriot's deep compassion, humor, and love of life shine as we laugh, cry, and delight in the portraits of his many varied animal patients and their equally varied owners.

A wonderful Audible experience. Great story
Revisado: 01-21-23
Nicholas Ralph is perhaps the best narrator ever. Multiple accents, voices, full characterizations of each character make this unfold like a play. Alternately funny and dramatic, it’s a truly great story. I love this series. I read them in high school, but it’s more entertaining listening to Ralph bring them to life.

Historia
Ben Franklin's own lively story of his early years is a unique, fascinating, and influential look at this American founding father. It has been taught in schools as a moral tract, as a guide to self-improvement, and as the Great American Success Story. It also is relished both for its insight into colonial life and the mind of the man who most affected the development of our democratic form of government.

Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Great story, couldn’t stop listening til the end. Characters are so solid it runs like a movie, I could see it all clearly, it’s a compelling story. The bad guy is truly bad, and the main guy is complex and romantic. I loved it. Excellent performance by Ed Harris too.
