I've never read (listened to) a book like this before and so happy I did. I picked it up due to the reviews, and carried on for the character development, intrigue, brilliant world building and great writing.

I found the female lead very difficult to like, the story felt slow with minimal payoff. The characters seemed very flat in comparison to previous books in the series with little character development, and the crossover didn't feel like it captured the ACOTAR world very well. I was so excited for this book, but eventually had to trudge through it. I'm hoping this was just a segue into something more along the likes of SJM'S usual gripping, edge-of-your-seat magical storytelling.

The first two books in this series ruined me for any other level of storytelling. The plot is captivating, the characters are multidimensional and interesting, and the world building is just *chef's kiss*

While it took a while to become immersed in this new world, the second you arrive where Brandon has been leading you all along, there's no escape. I think about The Stormlight Archive in the shower, while I'm driving, on my daily walks, and while I attempt to read anything else. Very few books can compare. Can't wait to start Edgedancer!

Loved the story, did not enjoy the female narrator, her inflections are strange and distracting. But the overall narrative is brilliant, I'm so enthralled by the magic systems, the creatures, the characters, the moral philosophy. I'll be thinking about this world for a very long time ✨️

I picked up Crescent City with some curiosity, being a fan of Sarah J. Maas's TOG and ACORAR series. After recently rereading those, I was eager to see what else Maas had written, and Crescent City didn't disappoint. It held its own with surprising plot twists, endearing and not-so-endearing creatures, impressive character development and romance, all set against an intriguing world. Admittedly, diving into this new universe felt a bit overwhelming initially, given the intricate world-building and unfamiliar concepts. However, a few chapters into the book, things began falling into place. Now, I'm eagerly looking forward to starting the next installment in this series.
