Historia
It’s 2001, and twenty-four-year-old Gordon—handsome, sensitive, and eager for direction—takes a bus from Minnesota to New York City because it’s the only place for a young gay man to go. As he begins to settle into the city’s punishing rhythm, he gets a job walking rich Manhattanites’ dogs. But it isn’t until he stumbles into the West Village brownstone of two of his clients, the powerful gallery owners Phillip and Nicola, that Gordon learns how much the world has hidden from him—and what he’s capable of doing in order to get it for himself.

Interesting and lots of potential
Revisado: 01-15-25
At first, I wasn't too sure about this book, but it started to grow on me as I read more of it. I thought perhaps it was an autobiography. It felt as if it was.. the writing was good not great, but with some more practice, this author can be in that league. It's an enjoyable read and I'll think about off for a while, I would recommend it.

A lot of wasted opportunity
Revisado: 11-18-24
Unfortunately, it seems. I said the writer was making it up as he went along, there was so much promise to his book, but it did not live up to it at all. A lot of talking, but no real story something that could've been so interesting just fell flat. The characters, sorry I didn't care about any of them and I am not any better off for having read this book.

Historia
As his family falls apart day by day, Robin finds himself pulling away from the unquestioned, unexamined life that has been carefully laid out for him. Small acts of rebellion lead to larger questions of what it means to stand on his own. Falling into a fevered triangle with two other outcasts, Todd Spicer and Scott Schatz, Robin embarks on an explosive odyssey of sexual self-discovery that will take him beyond the spring-green lawns of suburbia, beyond the fraying fabric barely holding together his quickly unraveling family, and into a complex future, beyond the world of normal boys.

What's the reason?
Revisado: 10-12-24
That's the question I kept answering myself throughout this entire book. Not really a story just random scenes that don't make much sense and then the author throws in unnecessary sexual bantering that he uses to hopefully keep your attention.. I'm not sure if this is a rough draft. This is actually the book.

Even better the second time around
Revisado: 09-22-24
This is my second time for reading this wonderful book and I forgot how great it was. The writing is so fantastic and his description of what it was like back then is so accurate.. it's amazing how much stuff is changed in such a short period of time. When I was a kid, we didn't even mention being gay.. This is a great book that every day person should read it so they can know about the past and how hard things were and how much things have changed and how great we have it today. Let's hope things are not ruined by Donald Trump.

What happened?
Revisado: 09-16-24
After all of her good books, and I loved pretty much every one of them…… I don't know what happened to here. After a certain point, the book just became a series of random words.. there doesn't seem to be any real story, it almost seems as if the author is relying upon her her old works to bring about a new book . I would say that is probably time to end the series.

I read this book because of booktalk reviews
Revisado: 09-05-24
Hailed as a great short story, I simply don't understand her or perhaps I don't get it… It was average to OK, but I unfortunately saw no actual story there just a time in a person's life. I would certainly not go out of my way to recommend it to anyone.

A javelin thrower and weightlifter, he is disappointed with himself because his weak eyes have excluded him from serving in the war alongside his contemporaries. Revisado: 08-01-24
Well, I'm a big fan of Philip Roth and I've enjoyed most of his books. This book takes you back to a time that a lot of people have forgotten about us. Things are important during our brief time on earth to us. A moving and disturbing story one that I think, everybody should read

What a letdown
Revisado: 06-11-24
To start with the story is exceedingly difficult to follow, it seems to jump around a lot, but I'm not even sure if that's accurate because most of it just makes no sense. The author who have always enjoyed just seems to be falling back on his old writing stunts to push out another book. I gave up before I finished it because I really couldn't even understand what was going on.

Could've been so much better
Revisado: 04-11-24
The author seems to have written this book for people that are not very familiar with the Holocaust. I will give credit to the fact that the aspect of the Nazis being in Greece is not overly discussed. A Few good points were made , but the writing in so for some disposable be interesting many parts of this book is so amateurish and basic that is just took too much away .. The characters could've been named A B and C , they were so unbelievable.
