Review of The Short Drop
Revisado: 02-09-16
Lots of characters' names to remember which can be difficult for listeners. Complicated enough to keep your attention. Nice if you like political mysteries. I was lost several times, will probably relisten.

Historia
Sorry. The single word is written on a mirror. In front of it hangs a Minneapolis Internal Affairs cop. Was it suicide? Or a kinky act turned tragic? Either way, it wasn't murder. At least not according to the powers that be. But veteran homicide detective Sam Kovac and his wisecracking, ambitious partner, Nikki Liska, think differently. Together they begin to dig at the too-neat edges of the young cop's death, uncovering one motive - and one suspect - after another.

Where does Meditations to Change Your Brain rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?
With more than 500 audio books it would be difficult to answer that question. However of the several Buddhist and self-help books, this on is in the top 1/3. I have already re-listened to this one three times. It's short yet not without power.
Try it, you'll like it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Doesn't apply
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Yes with better voices, it would have been better. The readers sounded knowledgable and sincere. A professional reader could of done more.
What???s an idea from the book that you will remember?
Breath and give yourself some credit.
Any additional comments?
Good work guys.

Ann Patchett is the Saint of good writing
Revisado: 01-22-12
Where does The Patron Saint of Liars rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?
While the story is somewhat unrealistic, Ann's writing is so enchanting and Julia Gibson's reading so comfortable, it is a wonderful read/listen. You learn a lot about other times and other places, told only the way Patchett can tell it.
I am a real Patchett fan after reading
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved them all but like the nun who
What does Julia Gibson bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice, the clarity and intonation are delicious.
If you could rename The Patron Saint of Liars, what would you call it?
Unwed Women
Any additional comments?
If I had a magic wish it would be to have a long lunch with Ann Patchett.

Historia
This touching and uproarious novel by author Paul Murray made everyone’s best fiction of 2010 lists, including The Washington Post, Financial Times, Village Voice, and others. Why Skippy dies and what happens next is the mystery that links the boys of Dublin’s Seabrook College (Ruprecht Van Doren, the overweight genius obsessed with string theory; Carl, the teenager drug dealer and borderline psychotic; Philip Kilfether, the basketball-playing midget) to their parents and teachers in ways that no one could have imagined.

Audible should let you return books like this one
Revisado: 01-22-12
Would you try another book from Paul Murray and/or the narrators?
No.
What was most disappointing about Paul Murray???s story?
Unlistenable. Could not understand the brogue, nor which character was speaking, nor why they were saying what they were saying. Did not finish the book. Very sad. It has such positive reviews. Who wrote them?
How could the performance have been better?
If you could understand the spoken word and the complications were not so complicated.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I'm still pissed off at waisting a credit on this book.
Any additional comments?
Think about instituting a return policy. Bookstores had them.

Not one of his best, but readable
Revisado: 01-22-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This 3 tape book would have been a good 2 tape book if DeMille had not gotten so carried away with John Corey making soooo many stupid remarks. Corey's behavior recovering from 3 bullet wounds was absolutely fantasy and unrealistic. Scott Brick was brilliant. This book was too long. Thighten it up DeMille, unless you are being paid by the word.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The Billy The Kid twist, but it took too long to get there and was not resolved as neately as it should have been
Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?
Every time.
Was Plum Island worth the listening time?
Just barely.
Any additional comments?
Love John Corey, did not love this book.

This book will appeal to foodies and those who are deprived of cookbooks in audio format. Molecular Gastronomy documents the sensory phenomena of eating and uses basic physics to put to bed many culinary myths. This audiobook presents pieces of conventional wisdom - such as whether it is better to make a stock by placing meat in already boiling water, or water before it is boiled - and gives its history before making scientific pronouncements.

Historia
In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept?
