Historia
In a far future, post-nuclear-holocaust Africa, genocide plagues one region. The aggressors, the Nuru, have decided to follow the Great Book and exterminate the Okeke. But when the only surviving member of a slain Okeke village is brutally raped, she manages to escape, wandering farther into the desert. She gives birth to a baby girl with hair and skin the color of sand and instinctively knows that her daughter is different.

Brilliance
Revisado: 03-02-23
Nneddi Okarofor is a master at crafting compelling character and who fears death does exactly that! Her protagonists are extremely flawed and so passionate and driven! Love this book, can’t wait to dive into more of her work. The reader was the downside to this whole book, maybe it’s my African ears that struggled with the accent of the reader.

Historia
In this sequel to Dawn, Lilith Iyapo has given birth to what looks like a normal human boy named Akin. But Akin actually has five parents: a male and female human, a male and female Oankali, and a sexless Ooloi. The Oankali and Ooloi are part of an alien race that rescued humanity from a devastating nuclear war, but the price they exact is a high one the aliens are compelled to genetically merge their species with other races, drastically altering both in the process.

A great read!
Revisado: 01-29-21
This is book 2 of the series and I gotta say this wasn’t the easiest book to listen to, not because it was bad but; Octavia is probably the best world builder ever, and most of her work you dive in knowing there probably won’t be any twists and turns but rather a deep analysis into ‘humanity’ and also raising a bunch of existential and real questions. In this book, she does take you on a journey that is outstanding, however I think the world become so so new to me that I couldn’t keep up visually. I’m assuming everyone visualizes the characters in their head, so listening to an audio book is an active experience, so it took me a couple of months to get through the book because i just couldn’t keep up! It is definitely worth every second I spent on it despite how long winded it becomes at times. Great work from the greatest fantasy/sci-fi writer I’ve ever read!

Historia
In his provocative new show, Bad Faith, celebrated solo artist Mike Daisey sinks his teeth into a harsh reality: Bad faith is becoming more rampant in today’s culture. He is Mike Daisey
Revisado: 01-29-21
You know what that tittle means if you’ve been to a Mike Daisey show before. He takes you in slowly with seemingly mundane observations that usual turn very personal before the scope is widened to include the world at large. He is a master orchestrater, weaving parts of his life into this beautiful conversation about Bad Faith. Definitely worth your time!

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Great book
Revisado: 11-24-19
Such a great book! Exposes the predatory nature of so many powerful man! It feels like two books after the HW story which accounts for about a 3rd of the book. So it took me a moment to reorient myself into the newish storyline
