Historia
Di Canzio follows their story past the end of Maurice to the front lines of battle in World War I and beyond. Forster, who tried to write an epilogue about the future of his characters, was stymied by the radical change that the Great War brought to their world. With the hindsight of a century, di Canzio imagines a future for them and a past for Alec—a young villager possessed of remarkable passion and self-knowledge.

Brilliant, Smart and Moving!
Revisado: 12-25-24
Mr. di Canzio has given us a beautiful and romantic story that waaves itself between and beyond E. M. Forster's "Maurice." It's not only about love between two men but the loving connection between all queer people past and present. I love this book. Mr. Sackville's read was flawless, bringing to life the rich characters and places while never trampling the beautiful text. Alec is everything an audiobook should be.

As beautiful as the first time
Revisado: 10-26-23
I didn't think it was possible. This book is every bit as beautiful as the previous one in the series. It's perfect. Dante and Ari, along with their friends and family, truly come alive through Mr. Saenz's poetic yet grounded words. Mr. Miranda is the perfect reader to give voice to these characters. He becomes the characters. This book deserves to be read by one of the greatest talents of this generation. Everything comes together here. it made me cry, laugh and everything in between.

Historia
Here are the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths, stylishly retold by Stephen Fry. The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.

Stephen Fry!
Revisado: 01-07-23
Only Stephen Fry could do it like this! He breaks down Greek mythology with style and wit. And that voice! His voice is brilliant both literally and metaphorically. I was blown away by Mr. Fry's knowledge and ability to contextualize. And he makes it all fun and entertaining!

Historia
The superhero comic books that Marvel Comics has published since 1961 are, as Douglas Wolk notes, the longest continuous, self-contained work of fiction ever created: over half a million pages to date, and still growing. The Marvel story is a gigantic mountain smack in the middle of contemporary culture. Thousands of writers and artists have contributed to it. Everyone recognizes its protagonists: Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men. Eighteen of the hundred highest-grossing movies of all time are based on parts of it. Yet not even the people telling the story have read the whole thing.

Smart + fun dive into history of Marvel's stories
Revisado: 03-06-22
The premise sounded like an interesting, yet academic exercise. The book is anything but. The author jumps around Marvel's wild universe and timeline to highlight the greatest stories and important cultural moments. His passion is always there, but it never feels like and insider conversation from deep in the halls of Comic-Con. There's a great balance of understanding, exploration, explanation, love, fun and warmth.
It's also an excellent read, clear and strong. I enjoyed the while experience.

I'm the One That I Want, based on her show of the same name, is filled with dead-on insights about the experience of being a woman with attitude, of flowing with the highs and lows of life, and of creating one's own identity and acceptance. It is every bit as hilarious, shocking, and irreverent as she is.

Absolutely beautiful story with flawless narration
Revisado: 03-15-20
This is the art of audiobooks fully realized. This isn't just a book being read or a movie without images. This is a story come to life. Mr. Saenz capture the bigness of transitioning from child to adult. Mr. Miranda disappears into the story's protagonist in this very moving and honest story. The marriage of writer and narrator is flawless. I loved the experience of listening to this beautiful book.

Historia
Mary Tyler Moore made her name as Dick Van Dyke's wife on the eponymous show; she was a cute, unassuming housewife that audiences loved. But when screenwriters James Brooks and Allan Burnes dreamed up an edgy show about a divorced woman with a career, network executives replied: "Americans won't watch television about New York City, divorcées, men with mustaches, or Jews." But Moore and her team were committed, and when the show finally aired, in spite of tepid reviews, fans loved it.

Detailed telling of pivotal time in TV
Revisado: 03-15-20
The story of the Mary Tyler Moore Show coming together, telling great stories and it's impact on all involved was fascinating. The narration seems better suited for a children's or YA story. Good narrator, just the wrong tone for this book.

Revisado: 01-26-20
it was great fun hearing the highs and lows of someone working their dream job. The author brings charm to the text and performance with openness and humor. Never gossipy, instead we get and insider's journal of working with celebrity. Ms. Coyne is ambitious, passional and self-aware. Ultimately, this book feel like a long conversation with a new friend.

Maurice Hall knows he must choose between living life in the shadows or denying himself a chance at love and fulfilment. Aware of his attraction to the same sex, in a time where it was considered unlawful and immoral to have homosexual desires, Maurice must decide whether to battle or submit to a prejudiced 20th-century English society.

I've always wanted to read this...
Revisado: 01-26-20
...and it didn't disappoint. This is a pillar of gay fiction and now I know why. I was completely drawn in to the collision of societal expectations and human nature. Considering when it was written, it's a miracle it even exists. I saw the movie when I was a young man and now I feel I've come full circle. I also enjoyed the excellent read, theatrical but never distracting from the story. It was perfect voice and perfect performance for this story.

An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, whose lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into pop's mainstream as one of MTV's first megastars, Billy Idol remains, to this day, a true rock 'n' roll icon. Now, in his long-awaited autobiography, Dancing with Myself, Idol delivers an electric, searingly honest account of his journey to fame - from his early days as front man of the pioneering UK punk band Generation X to the decadent life atop the dance-rock kingdom he ruled.

That voice!
Revisado: 01-22-19
I expected to get a great story if rock and roll excess and I got it. But I didn't expect Mr. Idol to be so charming. He's doesn't hold back about his bad behavior, but he's fundamentally a decent guy. He's also a talented performer with a beautiful, gritty voice, all used to full potential here.
Dancing with Myself is a compelling story that's beautifully read. It's well-crafted, but the read feels spontaneous and intimate.
Recommended to anyone interested in the making of a rock star and life in the studio and spotlight.
