Historia
The witnesses are legion, scattered across the world and dotted through history, people who looked up and saw something impossible lighting up the night sky. What those objects were, where they came from, and who - or what - might be inside them is the subject of fierce debate and equally fierce mockery, so that most who glimpsed them came to wish they hadn't. Most, but not everyone.

(Supposed) Ambitious Start
Revisado: 01-08-17
I'm intrigued by Tom Delonge's multi-media ambitions, and familiar with most of his work over the recent decade(s). As such I really wanted to convince myself to love this. unfortunately, I found it to bean average work of fiction that left my mind wandering off to other things in the midst of what was supposed to be climactic plot points. Hopefully things improve going forward, as I may give future work one more chance.

Three is Enough for Me
Revisado: 07-09-16
Have to say- I really enjoyed the first in this series, and probably should've moved on from there. Not "Bad"- just not all that compelling... lot's of words spent reviewing the Main Characters back stories (important for new readers, I suppose)... While the Antagonist displays a Hannibal Lector-like genius in the first story, his character relies on Extra-sensory powers and- where necessary- "internet tech magic" which seems to be an "easy solution" for any author's plot struggles these days...
A final irritation (to me) is the Narrator's rendition of "Holly's" voice... just terrible IMO (and- yes- I know who the Narrator is, and like much of his work... including that of most of the other characters in THIS audiobook)...

Historia
Finding and identifying a pirate ship is the hardest thing to do under the sea. But two men—John Chatterton and John Mattera—are willing to risk everything to find the Golden Fleece, the ship of the infamous pirate Joseph Bannister. At large during the Golden Age of Piracy in the seventeenth century, Bannister should have been immortalized in the lore of the sea—his exploits more notorious than Blackbeard’s, more daring than Kidd’s. But his story, and his ship, have been lost to time.

Fantastic non-fiction that reads like Action Adventure. While shorter, I think I enjoyed this more than Shadow Divers.

Historia
At an exclusive school somewhere outside of Arlington, Virginia, students aren't taught history, geography, or mathematics - at least not in the usual ways. Instead, they are taught to persuade. Here the art of coercion has been raised to a science. Students harness the hidden power of language to manipulate the mind and learn to break down individuals by psychographic markers in order to take control of their thoughts. The very best will graduate as "poets": adept wielders of language who belong to a nameless organization that is as influential as it is secretive.

Ridiculous.
Revisado: 01-23-16
You know how agitating it is when a villain in any movie or book insists on having a long conversation before inevitable duel, only for the hero to use this time to somehow turn things around? This entire book is basically a series of those kind of events. Some scenes even include SWAT Team Armies of soldiers with guns who- for some reason- insist on trying to have a conversation with someone and use magical words on them instead of pulling the trigger from 20 yards away. I suppose this type of nitpick wouldn't bother me had something else hooked meat, but nothing really did.

Revisado: 10-01-15
If you are interested in this book, it is because you NEED it. With that in mind, I might suggest that you will inevitably want a written or e-book version. The reason is that it is highly unlikely that EVERY chapter is relevant for the issues someone you know is dealing with. You should expect that many chapters/advice will want to be read, re-read, highlighted and/or bookmarked as reference, while others will be completely skipped.
(I listened to this entire book, but decided to order a paperback copy as well when I was only 1/3 through the listen)

Ugly, Unlikeable Characters
Revisado: 08-07-15
There is really no way I can say I "enjoyed" this story. The 3 women characters are all pathetic- desperate for a men, jobs, or family, and feeling sorry for themselves. The men are dominating, abusive, liars.
Good riddance to them all.

Historia
A masterful, intensely suspenseful novel about a reader whose obsession with a reclusive writer goes far too far - a book about the power of storytelling, starring the same trio of unlikely and winning heroes King introduced in Mr. Mercedes. "Wake up, genius." So begins King's instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, an iconic author who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn't published a book for decades.

Nothing Special
Revisado: 07-08-15
Liked Mr. Mercedes a whole lot. The classic "washed up policeman with one last case" was great, as were the supporting characters. And the villain was intelligent, yet twisted- like a Hannibal Lector.
This one lacks the attributes of the first book We learn little more about the core group of protagonists, while the villain lacks the "style" and intelligence. As if King recognizes this, we are teased with mention of the earlier killer in the final pages here. The listen filled the minutes during a day of air travel, but I can't really say I'd recommend it.

Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

Great
Revisado: 06-14-15
While not much of a fan of Stephen King's typical genre's, I loved "11/22/63" and decided to give this a shot since it's another example of King exploring ( and paying tribute to) another genre. Glad I did, as this one was another fast-paced, interesting, detective/serial-killer novel that moves like a summer blockbuster. Will buy the sequel next.

Travis Macy has summited glacial peaks in the French Alps, rappelled into limestone caves in China, and raced through parched deserts in Utah. In 2013 he famously won the Leadman Series, a combination of nearly 300 miles of high-altitude trail running and mountain biking over the course of five epic endurance races. Macy achieved all of these victories without elite professional training or even exceptional strength, speed, or flexibility.

A Solid Pick for Runners
Revisado: 06-01-15
80% autobiography 20% self-help motivational text. While I think this was an interesting approach for a book, I happen to think that most readers will fall into the camp of either appreciating one or the other. As a runner, I would've liked to of heard more specifics about the author's training and diet plans.

Historia
From the best-selling author of Kafka on the Shore comes this rich and revelatory memoir about writing and running and the integral impact both have made on his life. Equal parts training log, travelogue, and reminiscence, this revealing memoir covers Murakami's four-month preparation for the 2005 New York City Marathon. Settings range from Tokyo, where he once shared the course with an Olympian, to the Charles River in Boston, among young women who outpace him.

Mildly Depressing
Revisado: 04-21-15
As a runner who recently turned 40, I'm able to related to many of the observations here. That said, I came away with very little inspiration or positive messages from this one. While there's much passive acknowledgement that positive EXISTS and the author is thankful for the experiences, the majority of the words seem to dwell on inevitable disappointment associated with aging.
