By tracking down the facts and citing experts in a multitude of fields, Philip Ward points out the senseless ideas that we have come to accept as fact. Newly updated with today’s common misconceptions, The Book of Common Fallacies exposes the truth behind hundreds of commonly held false beliefs.

not entirely accurate

The teacher in Alaska that was found to have been killed by wolves would be surprised to find out that there is no record of wolves attacking humans. Very few of the fallacies are incorrect, but there are a few that are genuinely an opinion of the author, with no supporting evidence given (if you don't think war has any benefit to society, while it is an abhorrent practice it has been argued by various authors and historians for helping develop more advanced and peaceful societies). The narrator has several pronunciations that are grating, while speaking with no inflection where the author has obvious inflection. The subjects were haphazard. I'm glad this was free with subscription, and I didn't waste a credit on it.

Historia
It's hard for modern listeners to truly grasp the spectacle that was arena sports in ancient Rome, which pitted man against man and man against beast in mortal combat. Our modern games of football and hockey, or even boxing and MMA, truly pale in comparison. The Gladiators is a comprehensive survey of these ancient sports, focusing on gladiatorial combat and the beast hunts (venationes).

As we shall see
Revisado: 06-01-22
The work itself is informative, but a large amount of filler is present in the form of "As we shall see," "As we have seen," or variations thereof. The narrator does a decent job of holding attention, taking the necessary breaks where the text requires, though these become a bit tedious at times and could have been sped up some by speaking in a more conversational manner.
