Revisado: 04-16-25
This is the start of another great series by Seth Ring. I want to stop being drawn into his expansive storylines but I just can't, I'm waiting with baited breath for the next books in the Tower and Battle mage farmer series and now this, please Seth, just stop!

Historia
The theft of the Best Idea in the Universe from Thresia's Intergalactic Bank of Ideas plunges the Discovered Universe into chaos. With a robotic partner who’s not the machine he fell in love with and a mind as cool and measured as a forest fire, Isaac must unravel a cosmic conspiracy that stretches further than the reaches of even his depraved imagination. Earth and Thresia teeter on the brink of war as the race to recover the Best Idea intensifies. Yet in this bizarre Universe, truth proves stranger - and far more perilous - than fiction.

Humor that's dryer than an Englishman's Martini
Revisado: 04-16-25
I love British humor, and this is a great example. Very dry and witty but also quite preposterous and imaginative. This book feels a little more developed than the first one in the story and character development and I look forward to the next in the series!

Historia
After the government publicly praise Dedsec for their role in the Zero Day affair, there is a resetting of relations between the surveillance state and the public. However, the reality is that a brand new clampdown on civil freedom is underway. Responding to an increase in activism and disruptive protest that’s seen mass strikes and huge cost implications to the treasury, SIRS have been directed by the Department of Culture and Media to orchestrate a system of message manipulation, fake news generation and discrediting dissenting voices.

Interesting concept
Revisado: 01-17-25
This was an interesting and entertaining listen, I’m not sure if the choose your own adventure concept worked but it’s novel. The story is well in line with the games and works well in the universe, I found the story a bit choppy as each chapter is told by a new character but it’s still enjoyable and well executed.

Historia
Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Historia
Neal Stephenson's sweeping, prescient new novel transports listeners to a near-future world where the greenhouse effect has inexorably resulted in a whirling-dervish troposphere of superstorms, rising sea levels, global flooding, merciless heat waves, and virulent, deadly pandemics.

Revisado: 01-01-23
Just what I’d expect from this author: Interesting characters who navigate a complicated reality in a very human way. Maybe a little slow at the start and seems aimless but in retrospect it’s all important back story and adds to the larger world of the story.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Slow to start but gains depth
Revisado: 09-20-21
I wasn’t sure about this story at all at the beginning but was drawn in and quite captivated through to the end. I often read quite hard sci-fi and thought there was little depth to the universe here but it developed nicely. Can’t wait to hear the next book!

Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

Historia
Tibetan Buddhist master Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse, one of the most creative and innovative lamas teaching today, throws down the gauntlet to the Buddhist world, challenging common misconceptions, stereotypes, and fantasies. With wit and irony, Khysentse urges readers to move beyond the superficial trappings of Buddhism - beyond the romance with beads, incense, or exotic robes - straight to the heart of what the Buddha taught.

A surprisingly profound book.
Revisado: 02-07-16
I've listened to this book several times now and find it very profound. The fundamentals of Buddhism are covered here in a way that's easy to understand and not bogged down in complicated rhetoric. Though I came to this book with an understanding of most of the concepts in the book, I think that it would be relevant and interesting to people with little knowledge of Buddhism.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

This book is a total nerdgasm!
Revisado: 02-07-16
I very much enjoyed this story and also the movie which I saw soon after I'd listened to the book. The movie seemed reasonably faithful to the book, though the movie wasn't able to show quite a bit of the story from the book, some of the movie doesn't even make sense without having read the book so it's helpful to listen to the book first.
This story is total nerdgasm, it's quite an entertaining book with lots of technical details to add to the realism. The characters really make this story and Mark Watney's humour balanced with his risky predicament make for a very entertaining story.

Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Revisado: 02-07-16
This story is a must if you're a Star trek fan. I couldn't decide if this book was serious or humorous and I think that's a strength of the story, the sheer absurdity! I very much enjoyed this story, I found it very entertaining and thought provoking.
