I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I marked it as one of my favorites and I very seldom do that. It reminded me in such a sweet way of the power of prayer.

Historia
The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

Historia
As the war begins, Hanna Rombauer, a young German woman, is sent to live with her aunt and uncle after her mother’s death. Thrown into a life of luxury she never expected, Hanna soon finds herself unwillingly matched with an SS officer twenty years her senior. The independence that her mother lovingly fostered in her is considered highly inappropriate as the future wife of an up-and-coming officer and she is sent to a “bride school.” There, in a posh villa on the outskirts of town, Hanna is taught how to be a “proper” German wife.

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

A VERY DISAPPOINTED LOVER OF THE GABRIEL SERIES
Revisado: 09-20-21
I have always watched and waited for the next book to come out. NEVER AGAIN! Not only was it disappointing but it was very boring. I did not even bother to finish the book. Not only the story did not hold your interest but the narrator failed to capture the characters with his not so many voices. You could not tell when he switched characters.
I wonder if this is Daniel Silva writing or has he sold his rights to a ghost writer. I will not purchase another book.

Historia
When Pope Paul VII dies suddenly, Gabriel Allon is summoned to Rome by the Holy Father’s loyal private secretary, Archbishop Luigi Donati. A billion Catholic faithful have been told that the pope died of a heart attack. Donati, however, has two good reasons to suspect his master was murdered. The Swiss Guard who was standing watch outside the papal apartments the night of the pope’s death is missing. So, too, is the letter the Holy Father was writing during the final hours of his life. A letter that was addressed to Gabriel.

Good bye my beloved Gabriel
Revisado: 07-19-20
I have been an avid follower this series of Daniel Silva's. When I finish a book, I am already waiting for the next one to come.
After listening to this book, I have decided, sorry to say, that this is my last one.
If you are a believer that the Bible is the written Word of God, you will no doubt come to the same conclusion. Through out the book, he fans the flames of division between the Jewish people and the Christians. I sure do wish, in his research, he would have consulted with a Messianic Rabbi who could have shed more light on his misconceptions and inaccurate conclusions. His author's note is filled with anger and blame. As a strong supporter of Israel and it's people, I have noticed a rise in Anti Semitism, but I want to also point out the same for Christianity. The Bible does tell us that at the end of the Church age, both will rise as good is called evil and evil is called good.

I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR MORE FROM THIS AUTHOR!
Revisado: 02-01-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes it was very well written. Even though I, as many, love novels about Word War !!, this gave me a different perspective about what happened after the war. I was very interested on how the conditions progressed as Russia tightened it's grip on Poland.
What other book might you compare Lilac Girls to and why?
The Light of the Moon. Again, very well written and also an excellent narrator. I listen to every book before I purchase it. There are many books I was interested in, liked the author and could not purchase because the narrator ruined the book. I think they are just as important as the author in this venue.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Caroline, as she dared to go against what people thought and followed her own conscience and heart. I loved where she put in her place very humorously., Jinks Witney. We were all cheering for her. Her handling of the tally was brilliant!
Who was the most memorable character of Lilac Girls and why?
Kasha her love and devotion to her sister and family touched my heart. Now only of how she handled herself in Revensbruck, but watching her pain, progress and victory with the after math.
Any additional comments?
I cannot stress enough how excellent the writing, dialogue and narrator were.

I BROKE MY OWN RULE
Revisado: 09-06-13
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?
Never, never buy a book narrated by the author. I would rather they pay the price for one excellent narrator than several mediocre ones. An excellent narrator is an artist while the others just speak or overact.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Could not get through even to the fourth chapter.

Historia
The Queen of England has concocted a plan in which penniless aristocrat Lady Georgie is to entertain a Bavarian princess and conveniently place her in the playboy prince's path, in the hopes that he might finally marry.
But queens never take money into account. Georgie has very little, which is why she moonlights as a maid-in-disguise.

Do yourself a favor
Revisado: 08-21-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I enjoyed Her Royal Spyness so much that I referred the series to my friends and family.
In the second book, A Royal Pain, I was so disappointed with the German Princess Character that I almost did not get book number three. Do yourself a favor, skip this book and go on to book three. This was just as enjoyable as one. I think I have found a new series to follow (as long as a book two is not repeated).
Has A Royal Pain turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes, I thought that book number one was a fluke and was not going to continue with the series. I am so glad I did. Now getting number four.
What about Katherine Kellgren’s performance did you like?
She is brilliant and I will follow her as a narrator
Could you see A Royal Pain being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes, I could see this series being on TV. Everyone loves the Royals. But please no more mistakes like A Royal Pain.

Time to end the series
Revisado: 11-07-07
All several characters seemed to do throughout the whole book was to whine. It made their dialogue very boring. Marino's character, whom you started out being sympathetic with in earlier books, is now weak and pathetic. Every time he came back, I groaned and just wanted to rush right through it. You don't like any of the characters left in the book anymore.
The murders are now being described for several pages and are much too graphic. They have left the scientific and now are going for shock value.
I usually leave the books on my ipod to enjoy another time. The Book of the Dead will be the first I have ever taken off.
Maybe it's well past the time to keep the series going.
