Historia
At MI5 headquarters Regent's Park, First Desk Claude Whelan is learning the rule (cover your arse) the hard way. Tasked with protecting a beleaguered prime minister, he's facing attack from all directions himself. Over at Slough House, the MI5 satellite office for outcast and demoted spies, the agents are struggling with personal problems: repressed grief, various addictions, retail paralysis, and the nagging suspicion that their newest colleague is a psychopath. Plus someone is trying to kill Roddy Ho.

Best in series, Maybe!
Revisado: 03-27-25
All I can say is WOW! It is hard to find a series where the books just keep getting better. This series does it. Mick writes with the shock and surprise of O Henry and the character development that can not be rivaled by anyone. I love these misfits and you will too. Start with book one. Great narration as always, Gerard is the best and I will listen to anything that he reads!

Historia
Van and his crew suspect there's more to the Equal Grasp than just a band of thieves, and they begin their campaign at Bopul Station, a lonely outpost where corruption rules and Peacemakers are feared. To continue the fight and the case, the crew and friends need more than just contacts. They need money. To that end, Van begins exploring an old mystery about his grandfather, which leads to the shocking discovery—the Earth is being stripped of its history, one object at a time, but that's not the main purpose of the criminals.

Unbelievable!
Revisado: 03-21-25
After 19 books I am shocked that I can say unbelievable about book 20. I find myself shocked that a series can keep my interest like this. Not just keep my interest but I must say that I can not wait for book 21. I find these characters to have become my friends and family. When one of the characters is killed I feel it. I guess after 20 books you do that, or perhaps this is a tribute the the writers of the books as well as the very excellent narrator who brings each character to life for many, many, many fine hours of adventure! Well done to everyone involved in this project! This series deserves more stars then are in the universe!

What a Great Series!
Revisado: 03-14-25
This is a fun, exciting series. The characters all are unlikable but lovable. The plots are well developed and almost impossible to figure out, always throwing many surprises at you. Gerard Doyle as always breathes life in to the characters thus bringing this book to life. You may also like the Sean Duffy series read by him also.

Historia
Rain slicked streets, riots, murder, chaos. It’s July 1992 and the Troubles in Northern Ireland are still grinding on after twenty-five apocalyptic years. Detective Inspector Sean Duffy got his family safely over the water to Scotland, to “Shortbread Land”. Duffy’s a part-timer now, only returning to Belfast six days a month to get his pension. It’s an easy gig, if he can keep his head down.

Another Winner!
Revisado: 03-11-25
Once again Adrian McKinty creates an environment that places you right into the middle of Ireland during the troubles of the early 1990's. This is a great series and do yourself a favor start from the beginning. Gerard Doyle breathes life into the loveable although a bit screwed up character of Sean Duffy, letting all of us know it is alright to not be perfect. The writing is great, the narration is great, the plot is great and especially the characters are great. I hope there are many more Sean Duffy books in this series, and sooner rather than later!

Historia
Thousands of people have had near-death experiences, but scientists have argued that they are impossible. Dr. Eben Alexander was one of those scientists. Neurosurgeon Alexander knew that NDEs feel real, but are simply fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. Then, Dr. Alexander’s own brain was attacked by a rare illness. The part of the brain that controls thought and emotion shut down completely. For seven days he lay in a coma. Then Alexander’s eyes popped open. He had come back. Alexander’s recovery is a medical miracle. But the real miracle of his story lies elsewhere.

Historia
Evan Smoak is a highly trained former government assassin who has survived for years by keeping his circle to a few trusted confidants and a strict code he calls “The Ten Commandments.” But when Evan suddenly finds himself at odds with his oldest friend, all the rules he lives by shatter—and the consequences are murderous. Tommy Stojack might be Evan's best friend in the world. He’s a gifted gunsmith who has created much of Evan's own weapons and combat gear. But now, he has apparently crossed one of Evan's hardest lines and their argument explodes into open warfare.

A Series that only gets better!
Revisado: 03-05-25
Excellent! I have been with Evan from the beginning all of these years and I still can not wait every year for a new orphan book to come out. This book contains 16 hours of action, emotion, and a deep dark look into today's current societal condition. Even after 10 books the characters are still being developed. We continue to learn more about them, the way they think, and why they are the way they are. The book forces us to reflect back on ourselves to challenge us to think about who we are and why we do the things we do, let alone the way we look at others. Most of all the book makes us look at what events in our upbringing has formed our thinking and our actions.
I like the way that there are several plots going on at the same time. The chapter adulting was great. It lets us see Joey coming in to her own and I really loved her thinking on Dog the dog.
Just like Joey being worried about what life will be like after Dog is gone, I must admit that I worry about what life will be like when I can no longer look forward to next year when the next Orphan X novel comes out. I hope this series never ends!

Historia
London’s Slough House is where the washed-up MI5 spies go to while away what’s left of their careers. The “Slow Horses,” as they’re called, have all disgraced themselves in some way to get relegated here. Maybe they messed up an op badly, or got in the way of an ambitious colleague. Maybe they just got too dependent on the bottle—not unusual in this line of work. One thing these failed spies have in common, though, is they all want to be back in the action. Now the Slow Horses have a chance at redemption.

Better than the first book!
Revisado: 02-16-25
This book is more exciting than the first which does not take anything away from the first book. We now know the characters better! This book has one of the best plots I have read in a long time. Also the humor makes this book easy to read as well as a serious plot and a commentary on modern times. Great book! Great plot! Great characters! most of all great narration!

Historia
Slough House is a dumping ground for British intelligence agents who've screwed up cases in any number of ways - by leaving a secret file on a train or blowing a surveillance. River Cartwright, one such "slow horse", is bitter about his failure and about his tedious assignment transcribing cell phone conversations. When a young man is abducted and his kidnappers threaten to broadcast his beheading live on the Internet, River sees an opportunity to redeem himself.

Found a great series!
Revisado: 02-16-25
I started reading this series because of the narrator. The book is a little confusing at the start and takes a little time to get use to it. Once you get use to it though hold on because you will be on a wild ride. Great character development, excellent narration and a plot that will take you for turns that you will not expect. I am excited to read the next book in the series!

Revisado: 02-11-25
I started reading this series because of Gildart Jackson one of my favorite narrators! It has been a fun series a little on the long side sometimes but lots of twist and turns to keep the series interesting even after 10 books! All and all I really enjoy it!
