Historia
When Jax receives nine missed calls from her older sister, Lexie, she assumes that it’s just another one of her sister’s episodes. Manic and increasingly out of touch with reality, Lexie has pushed Jax away for over a year. But the next day, Lexie is dead: drowned in the pool at their grandmother’s estate. When Jax arrives at the house to go through her sister’s things, she learns that Lexie was researching the history of their family and the property. And as she dives in deeper herself, she discovers that the land holds a far darker past than she could have ever imagined.

Interesting spin on the “haunted pool” concept!

This one had really great narration. I enjoyed the split perspectives and the time jumps back and forth. Like the little twists and the overall spooky feel.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Reasonably interesting story!
Revisado: 05-22-24
I appreciate the effort put forth on both the author and the narrator’s parts, but while I’m always game for a good vampire horror… something about this one wasn’t my cup of tea. However, the plot line was good, and the narration was distinctive for each character.
I did feel that even the goriest scenes were described with the same enthusiasm as a trip to the grocery store. 😅
The cover artwork though. WOW. Whole reason I downloaded this one. Christian Bentulan is such a talent!
To sum up for the author. Solid plot line. Engaging characters. Newel (not sure about spelling as it was audio) was my favorite.

Super enjoyed how the author kept you guessing. The narration was really good—certainly beyond my talents. 😂❤️ I did, as other readers have mentioned, find the fake whine of the little boy’s supposed voice very difficult to hear past. But otherwise, a good listen.

Historia
When Mouse’s dad asks her to clean out her dead grandmother's house, she says yes. After all, how bad could it be? Answer: pretty bad. Grandma was a hoarder, and her house is stuffed with useless rubbish. That would be horrific enough, but there’s more - Mouse stumbles across her step-grandfather’s journal, which at first seems to be filled with nonsensical rants...until Mouse encounters some of the terrifying things he described for herself.

Leigh Harker's quiet suburban home was her sanctuary for more than a decade, until things abruptly changed. Curtains open by themselves. Radios turn off and on. And a dark figure looms in the shadows of her bedroom door at night, watching her and waiting for her to finally let down her guard enough to fall asleep.

Another great one!
Revisado: 04-02-24
Usually, I don’t have a single bad thing to say about a Darcy Coates book, but while the writing is awesome, this story really dragged on for me. It was what, ten hours or something? of the same location and the same themes. And unfortunately it does become very repetitive. I had to take a break around the six hour mark and switch it up, but wasn’t willing to give up on it. Still worth a listen. Good plot, just could have been a bit condensed to keep listeners (or just me 😂🙈) engaged. Overall, great narration!
