Historia
There’s a literary niche for all tastes including those who think that either Agatha Christie wasn’t funny enough or that PG Wodehouse didn’t feature anywhere near as many baffling murders as he could have. The Case of the Canterfell Codicil is a classic, cozy, locked-room mystery written in the style of an homage to PG Wodehouse.

Kind of like a PG Wodehouse but with murder
Revisado: 10-02-24
I enjoyed the humorous writing with the mystery component. It put me in mind of PG Wodehouse. The reader did a good job as well.

I found this book disturbing
Revisado: 04-07-23
SPOILERS! I thought I had guessed something but I was wrong. I like Sherlock Holmes,Agatha Christie, Dick Francis and I am enjoying new detective series by other Authors. I think I purchased this book on sale as the description was intriguing. As Felix Francis’ last book employed the style of constantly switching from the present to the past and back forth I discovered that I find that really annoying. This author does this in this book. I didn’t like it any better. Some people may like this Genre whatever this genre is but I finished to the end and was rather mortified. It didn’t leave me with a good feeling. The author is a good story teller but I didn’t like the story and I didn’t find myself liking any of the characters except maybe one. There’s enough appalling stuff in the real world without making up more. Also I am not sure where it would have been appropriate but there was no comic relief. I finished this book feeling very disturbed and I didn’t like that. It was definitely not to my taste. The reader did a good job.

May be the best so far
Revisado: 11-22-22
I have enjoyed all these books immensely. At first I was concerned about the change in narrator but Fiona Shaw was magnificent. I love these characters and the story.

Historia
Tommy and Tuppence are at it again. This detective couple can never walk away from a mystery and these two later novels are no exception. By the Pricking of My Thumbs: When Tommy and Tuppence visit an elderly aunt in her gothic nursing home, they think nothing of her mistrust of the doctors; after all, Ada is a very difficult old lady. Postern of Fate: Tommy and Tuppence Beresford have just become the proud owners of an old house in an English village. Along with the property, they have inherited some worthless bric-a-brac, including a collection of antique books....

New Agatha Christie fan here. Really enjoyed
Revisado: 04-22-22
I really like the narrator and the stories. There are five books in the Tommy and Tuppence series with large gaps in their lives between them. I have enjoyed all of them.

A delightful escape from the rat race
Revisado: 06-24-21
Wodehouse is just delightful and while he is hilarious, it isn’t slapstick. Hearing the English language spoken without all the modern degradation is a pleasure and I imagine it boosts not only one’s vocabulary but perhaps IQ as well. Having said that I really must mention the reader: Jonathan Cecil, I could listen to this man read the telephone book (do they still have those?) or a grocery list. He brings the books he reads to life. There are two books where Monty Bodkin is the main character. This is the second. “The Luck of the Bodkins” is the first. I didn’t realize that and listened to them out of order but my enjoyment was not diminished.

Very Interesting life she lived

There was so much about Penny I didn’t know. I found it most enjoyable to hear about it in her own voice. Also fun to hear about things that go on in the background to get movies made.
