If you are wanting to listen to this for nuggets of wisdom about golf you will more than likely be disappointed. The first book gave me nuggets of wisdom about golf then got very religious near the end. This book is mainly about religion.

The premise seems more about Johnny’s dream than anything else. He uses religion to convince his protege that Johnny’s dream is his dream.

I will admit that I stopped listening 2 hours into the book as it was more than I could take. I consider myself a spiritual person but not a religious person. I don’t like getting beat over the head with it.

Having actually played the course several times over the years and visit the cafe every year I love the setting. I loved 3/4 of the book and the mentality of golf. Spoke to me on the mental aspect of the game I love so much. Then religion came in. Almost destroyed the book and philosophy for me but will separate the two. I will take much of it with me for the game and leave the rest behind.

This man is beyond my scope to describe. For all he's been through, he still has his sense of humor. And his vulnerability...wow, he's not afraid to share that either. Although a bit difficult at times to understand, but completely dismissible due to the PK, he still continues to plow forward. He has challenges ahead and is fully aware of them. His relationship with Tracy is enviable. I can't say enough about this guy...an easy 5 star read.

The narration of this story knocked it out of the park. A wonderful story, so well-written. I'm truly beginning to appreciate time-period stories which gives me a richer understanding of a world I knew nothing about. Not even within my own country. An easy 5 stars for Jojo Moyes. Well done...

The narration of The Henna Artist, in my opinion, made it more than a 5-star rating. With so much of the language being about the culture of Jaipur, reading this would certainly not come across the same, not by a long shot. Plus the different dialects fascinated me. I’m picky about narrators. I believe they truly can make or break a book on tape. Sneha Mathan was, by far, one of the best narrators I have ever listened to. Bravo to both the author and the narrator!

I am a writer. I immediately became impressed with Ms. Field's narration...don't know why I ever had a doubt.
I was troubled (and saddened) by some of the reviews. However, I won't pass judgment on their words.
What I will say is it was a difficult read. Difficult, but one I could not stop listening to. First, the title...second, her picture on the cover. Both should have been a huge red flag to what the reader would learn through the course of the book.
It became glaringly obvious, and thankfully so, Ms. Field now, and only now, has a platform to tell her story. This book is not, I repeat, not light non-fiction. There were several segments during her earlier years I literally had to push fast forward, unable to stomach what she had endured...guess it hit too close to home.
Ms. Field is portrayed to the world as an Oscar-winning actor. That is what is seen from the outside. Taking a closer look of her many performances and the painfully raw emotions that were captured on camera, provided Ms. Field an outlet for the wounded child.
I thank you, Ms. Field, for having the courage to write In Pieces. And for those who think it should have been her personal journal and nothing more...please try to understand the value and strength this book may provide to so many women who do not know how to speak or to who.

I've listened to many books on tape and have become sort of a snob when it comes to narrators. Instead of a "Loretta Young" flow of simply reading a book aloud, I look for narrators who have the talent to absolutely bring a story to life. Michael Beck is this type of narrator. He is definitely a master mimic of a large variety of voices, bringing each involved character front and center.
This does not in any way take away from the brilliance of writer, John Grisham. As a writer myself, I am so very curious how best-selling authors produce book after book with amazing story lines. Because of my own time at the computer, I only listen to Audible while in my car. I found myself making excuses to run errands simply to listen to what would happen next in Sycamore Row. This book is THAT compelling, as I stated earlier in narration and writing. Easy, easy 5 stars to both John Grisham and Michael Beck. I know for sure my next read/listen will be books written and narrated by both.

I've always been drawn to PTSD issues and Until Tuesday hit the spot. I always enjoy books narrated by the author. Spoiler alert***saddened beyond tears to learn Luis Carlos Montalvan ended up committing suicide. May his tortured soul rest in peace.
