I love John Lithgow and I love the way he tell stories and I mostly like the stories that are in this book. however not a lot of stories I think there are three I think each of them are pretty well told I think what John has to say about each of the stories is pretty good I definitely enjoyed listening to them but I also did not really get what I wanted I guess I hope there would be more here I should have probably checked before I bought the book but I was so excited after the poet's corner that I just jumped in head first and this is what you get when you do that I would recommend reading it it's definitely a good read it's great listen but it's not very long

the particular genius of this collection of poetry is of course finding the right narrators for each of the poems. I really enjoyed the performances of each of the narrators as they read their piece and it gives me meaning and depth to each piece of poetry

Worth reading but be ready for disappointments

this is a necessary book to read and I read it upon the recommendation of the legal eagle on YouTube. it is a very telling and exact recount of an actual legal case. it is very thorough and it's details and and court documents. it fills in a lot of holes however, the disappointments are many. because of the way it's put together as a book, you just don't get the details that you really want to hear you get a lot of the who what when and very little of the why and how and this is mostly because of the way Court documents are filed I'm no expert but this is where something like law and order becomes necessary for storytelling. I realize this is really an account of what's happened and not the story of what happened but I kind of wish they had done a story of what happened so that I can say oh here's the beginning the middle and end and here's the conclusions I want to draw from this rather than oh it's over and well that happened. a follow-up to the court case I guess it kind of fall out is kind of provided but again I feel unsatiated by the end result of this book.

I think the thing that stands out the most here is you really get Obama's narration and his speaking style which is refreshingly different from other memoirs and life story books that we are saying these days more and more. I really enjoyed getting the backstory of was led up to the presidency at seeing the hope and the planning that's went into his residential run I really enjoyed the way Barack tells his story and I enjoyed the humor and the insides that is found here. I really love the hope that is in this book and what it promises for our future. I have to admit that he was not my first choice for president but he's definitely my last choice for president. he was the best president we've had I want to see was perfect but he was definitely the best and it's just too bad that Congress didn't see that the same way. as a writer I have enjoyed reading this book and see how Barack Obama decided to tell this part of his story I certainly look forward to his next book

this book has a immediate impact on how we view changes in human society and it's amazingly on point at first read. the downside is it doesn't hold well after a few weeks and a few months and several discussions with a friend the turning seems so real when you read it and so carefully explained, but it starts to fall short on further scrutiny the argument is sound but after 4 months of repeating the turning and trying to explain what it is about I find myself not as convinced as when I first read the book I think the book is well written I think it's well researched I think it is prophetic but until I see the fourth turning actually come to fruition I guess I'm just not going to believe that it's going to happen because it just doesn't seem to be happening that being said it's often hard to see what's going on when you're in the middle of a thing so I will reserve judgment it is a good read and I would recommend anyone who's got an open mind to read it because it is a profound idea

I am biased John scalzi is one of my favorite authors of all time mostly because he just has a great gift of telling the stories especially science fiction stories that don't necessarily need to have action to be understanding which is a refreshing change from so many of others books on sci-fi. the humor in this book is just amazing and well-timed and filled with a delicious irony that's can only be described as artistry. the story is well put together and well thought out and well executed and I'm probably say well three more times here but of his other books to this one definitely stands out as one of my favorites. as to the narrator Wil Wheaton is just amazing and I would gladly listen to anything he narrates in the future and even his own stuff which is a won't take up anytime here he's just an outstanding there writer and I have enjoyed everything he's done especially this book

well written and well told I am definitely glad I got the audio version as it had a lot more stuff and always enjoyed listening to Wil talk even if I have to listen to him talk about himself. since I didn't know about the original I am glad I found this one and I'm glad I read this one now as it is probably a lot better than the original was with all the annotations and updates. I definitely thought I knew where we'd better than I did but now I know him a lot better than I used to so there's that I really love the storytelling that takes place here so much that I went ahead and got the book dancing in the park off band camp and I really enjoyed that one as well I certainly look forward to his next installment this has been great

I am a fan of Brian Sanderson and this science fiction book is a success. I really enjoyed listening to it and taking part in the adventure and the mystery of how the humans got to this world that it takes place on and in. the storytelling it held up really well until the end and it's just a little weak I was a little disappointed I guess because it's kind of got a menagerie feel to it though after looking at what follows I can see where he's going with it and I want to read more of those books

A snore fest of bland storytelling

this book has to be one of the most boring drawn-outs over detailed drudge reading I've ever done in my life the science fiction part of it is bizarre and poorly described even though I understand it's trying to be told through The eyes of a 14th century priest and his understanding of the aliens. it's lack of action and is attention to bland details mind-boggling. the modern Day stuff is even worse coupled with the constant references to Latin and other languages without any translation given is very annoying and I gave up looking up the various phrases quickly. nothing really happens in this book is the big thing I mean there's this historical account of this alien interaction that is reminiscent of what happened in Siberia but it's just dull and awkward and clumsy and every time you think it's going to get really interesting it doesn't.
