Historia
To live in a pristine land unchanged by man... to roam a wilderness through which few other humans have passed... to choose an idyllic site, cut trees and build a log cabin... to be a self-sufficient craftsman, making what is needed from materials available... to be not at odds with the world but content with one's own thoughts and company. Thousands have had such dreams, but Richard Proenneke lived them.

Historia
What drives all of your life’s priorities, values, and decisions? In the sequel to An End to Upside Down Thinking, Mark Gober builds a science-based worldview from which we can create a compass for living. In stark contrast to his prior belief system, Gober explains why life is actually full of meaning. From this perspective, he lays out how we might approach life accordingly, along with the well-traveled “awakening” path that we’re likely to encounter. Approaching life in a new way is the antidote that our civilization desperately needs.

Historia
A black swan is a highly improbable event with three principal characteristics: It is unpredictable; it carries a massive impact; and, after the fact, we concoct an explanation that makes it appear less random, and more predictable, than it was. The astonishing success of Google was a black swan; so was 9/11. For Nassim Nicholas Taleb, black swans underlie almost everything about our world, from the rise of religions to events in our own personal lives. Elegant, startling, and universal in its applications, The Black Swan will change the way you look at the world.

I am a big fan of Nassim Taleb, Black Swan and Antifragile are my favourites. This book has managed to change my thinking on many things including how I think about risk. I am grateful to have been able to take the time to read it.

Historia
One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

I will be listening to this many more times.
Revisado: 04-09-21
The first time I listened to it, I was lost in it. The second time I read it I fell in love with it. The third time I read it the wisdom in it started influencing my life. I am now reading it the fourth time and I think I will be reading this book over and over for the rest of my life. I have found this book to be a total blessing. More than anything else I have found that it makes me a peaceful person. I feel more comfortable being myself. If you read this book you need to be patient and present and the book will sink into your soul and do great work if you’re ready for it.

Historia
Kevin Mitnick was the most elusive computer break-in artist in history. He accessed computers and networks at the world’s biggest companies—and however fast the authorities were, Mitnick was faster, sprinting through phone switches, computer systems, and cellular networks. He spent years skipping through cyberspace, always three steps ahead and labeled unstoppable.

Historia
The Wealthy Gardener required 33 years to complete: the first 30 to earn financial freedom, the last three to write the life lessons on prosperity. This book was originally a series of missives between a financially independent father and his son who was about to embark on his life’s own question for financial achievement. It offers timeless wisdom to clarify the ways of prosperity.

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

Historia
This audiobook documents the oft times stumbling and backtracking Quixotic journey of a young veterinarian struggling to find emotional security, intellectual acceptance, and financial stability. The stories present a fascinating portrayal of veterinary medicine, and involve modern day women, modern day morals, modern day windmills, as well as a main character with a largely oblivious and egocentric mindset.

Revisado: 05-09-19
I enjoyed the book even though I did not know the author prior to reading the book. The stories would have been better if the narrator was good. I found the book mildly satisfying as a whole but the stories in between really interesting and some very funny.

Historia
A revolutionary system to get one per cent better every day. People think when you want to change your life, you need to think big. But world-renowned habits expert James Clear has discovered another way. He knows that real change comes from the compound effect of hundreds of small decisions – doing two push-ups a day, waking up five minutes early, or holding a single short phone call. He calls them atomic habits.
