Historia
Can Jaxon Hampton love the Moon Queen enough? If Zeth, the servant of her enemies the Shadow Giants, defeats Jaxon in battle, the Shadow Giants unleash chaos on Earth and destroy humanity. Every night Jaxon experiences vivid recurring dreams in which, 10,000 years ago, he escorts a beautiful woman through many dangers to the top of a cliff overlooking the Nile River. How come his boss's daughter dreams the same story? And why does a strange man hypnotize Jaxon to take the young woman to a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River during the next full moon?

The juxtaposition of modern and ancient storylines and liberal application of magic and mythology evoke shades of Koontz.

An Atheist Perspective
Revisado: 12-09-16
I am no longer a believer so this was more for intellectual purposes than for edification. There is no point really in commenting on the content per se. One either believes in it or not. And I have no strong feelings about the version. It is all based on multiple generations of transcriptions, translations, and revisions anyway. I'll just stick to the performance aspects of the recording.
The reader has a great voice, a pleasing accent and his pronunciation is spot on. Where he loses me is at the points where he over-dramatizes passages where it makes absolutely no sense. I'm all in favor of adding some pathos to what could potentially otherwise be a very dry read. But what is the point of adding dramatic emphasis to a passage like "and they all ... sat ... DOWN!"? I found this technique to be extremely distracting. And it was strewn throughout the entire recording.
And background music?? Seriously?? From the perspective of believers, I can't imagine how one would determine what is appropriate music to accompany the Holy Scriptures. And as for me, just stick to the words, thanks.

Historia
To escape from a life of petticoats and politeness, Hilary answers a curious advertisement for a pirate crew and suddenly finds herself swept up in a seafaring adventure that may or may not involve a map without an X, a magical treasure that likely doesn't exist, a rogue governess who insists on propriety, a crew of misfit scallywags, and the most treacherous - and unexpected - villain on the High Seas. Will Hilary find the treasure in time? Will she become a true pirate after all? And what will become of the gargoyle?

Any additional comments?
Imaginative storyline, excellent writing, and phenomenal performance! Not only will your kids love it, but you won't be able to help but smile when you hear the voices and accents of the Pirate Narrator, Claire, or Miss Pimm.
