Historia
On the North Pole of Pluto there stands an enigma: a huge circle of standing blocks of ice, built on the pattern of Earth's Stonehenge - but 10 times the size, standing alone at the farthest reaches of the Solar System. What is it? Who came there to build it? The secret lies, perhaps, in the chaotic decades of the Martian Revolution, in the lost memories of those who have lived for centuries.

Not KSRs best wotk

I struggled to finish this. The narrative and characters are way less polished than his later works. This feels like a set piece.

Historia
In her first novel since 2002, Nebula and Hugo award-winning author Connie Willis returns with a stunning, enormously entertaining novel of time travel, war, and the deeds - great and small - of ordinary people who shape history. In the hands of this acclaimed storyteller, the past and future collideand the result is at once intriguing, elusive, and frightening.

great voice acting.

This story isn't as tight as Doomsday Book, her first in the series. Its still an entertaining and engaging story, but somehow it feels less believable than the 1st book. The narration is fantastic. All the British accents are rich and the one American character is passable. Unless you just love WW2, read Doomsday Book first, then this.

Historia
A military unit is thrust back into Paleolithic times with only their guns and portable hardware. Ten soldiers on convoy in Afghanistan suddenly find themselves lost in time. Somehow they arrived in Earth's Paleolithic Asia. With no idea how they arrived or how to get back, the shock of the event is severe. They discover groups of the similarly displaced: imperial Romans, Neolithic Europeans, and a small cadre of East Indian peasants.

This book is an interesting premise ruined by the authors internal obsessions. Thia book reads loke it was written by a mall ninja who watches too much Fox News. It's poorly written to boot.

Historia
Switters is a contradiction for all seasons: an anarchist who works for the government, a pacifist who carries a gun, a vegetarian who sops up ham gravy, a cyberwhiz who hates computers, a robust bon vivant who can be as squeamish as any fop, a man who, though obsessed with the preservation of innocence, is aching to deflower his high-school-age stepsister (only to become equally enamored of a nun ten years his senior). Yet there is nothing remotely wishy-washy about Switters. He doesn't merely pack a pistol. He is a pistol.

I've read a lot of SM Stirling. If you like alternative history, you'll like this. He does a better job of sticking to the story arc than he does in the Emberverse series.
