Historia
Welcome to the Orthodox Church - its history, theology, worship, spirituality, and daily life. This friendly guide provides a comprehensive introduction to Orthodoxy, but with a twist: listeners learn by making a series of visits to a fictitious church, and get to know the faith as new Christians did for most of history, by immersion. Mathews-Green provides commentary and explanations on everything from how to "venerate" an icon, the Orthodox understanding of the atonement, to the Lenten significance of tofu.

This is the book I always recommend to anyone looking into Orthodoxy. I think it gives the best foundation to go on to learn more.

Historia
Eastern Europe has long been thought of as the "Other Europe", a region rife with political upheaval, shifting national borders, an astonishing variety of ethnic diversity, and relative isolation from the centers of power in the West. It has also been, and continues to be, pivotal in the course of world events. A History of Eastern Europe offers a sweeping 1,000-year tour with a particular focus on the region's modern history.

A focused history
Revisado: 01-27-22
While the course was very well done and I learned much, it would be best described as Eastern Europe in the 20th century with some context before and after. Apart from that, a good course.

Historia
Writer Ben Mears has returned to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot with the hope that moving into a delapidated mansion, long the subject of town lore, might help him get a handle on his life and provide inspiration for a new book. But when two young boys venture into the woods and only one comes out alive, Mears begins to realize that there may be something sinister at work.

Something that sits with you.
Revisado: 10-10-21
The book and the narration are fantastic. The horror is not the cheap kind of thrill which lasts as long as it takes to read, but it something quieter which sticks in your mind and keeps you looking around corners and wondering.

Historia
This revised edition includes a new epilogue, "Coming up on Twenty-Five Years" since the entry of the Evangelical Orthodox into the Holy Orthodox Church. This is the story of a handful of courageous men and their congregations who risked stable occupations, security and the approval of life-long friends to be obedient to God's call. It is also the story of every believer who is searching for the Church.

A Beautiful Tale
Revisado: 03-12-19
A wonderful first-person account of finding Orthodoxy. Fr Gillquist delivers the touching story of his and his colleagues journey to find the original Christianity that most Americans don't even know exists.
