Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

EXCELLENT!
Revisado: 02-11-25
I loved everything about this book - the story, the main characters, the narration! It gave me a glimpse as to what it might have been like to be a nurse in Viet Nam during the war. To add to my fascination and enjoyment of this book, in the States it mainly took place on the beautiful Coronado Island in San Diego! I highly recommend this book to everyone! Is there a movie in the future?

Excellent Memoir!

What a fascinating story … It’s behind the scenes old Hollywood … funny, sad, captivating! Griffin Dunne wrote and narrated and did an excellent job at both! I just wish it didn’t end! Thank you for sharing, Griffin!

Wow!
Revisado: 05-08-24
I just finished the third book in the Don’t Call me Jupiter series. I’m not sure how to put into words how much I loved the books.
When I saw a review on Facebook that mentioned these books as being like The Glass Castle, I knew I had to listen to them, and I’m so glad I did.
Tom and his family captured my heart. In spite of a mother who was mostly not what one would think of as motherly, he flourished. Reading about what they went through growing up captivated me. I felt like I was right there with them, every step of the way. I went through a whole gamut of emotions, from intense laughter to profound sadness.
Tom is an amazing author and an amazing narrator. I love his voice! I love his sense of humor! I love his unique analogies (I have written some of them down and plan to use them!).
I am sad to be finished with the series. I await Evergreen Lodge being available on Audible.
More, please!

Historia
Lynn grew up the carefree daughter of a Miami undercover narcotics agent—until her dad snuck out of the house in the dark of night without a glance back. She never knew what happened to her father until she was in high school, and he was in prison for drug smuggling. By then, Lynn had developed a dangerous drug and alcohol habit of her own. It was the perfect setup for her to latch onto the only connection to her dad that remained when he was paroled from prison—cocaine.

I couldn't stop listening!
Revisado: 01-19-23
I absolutely loved this book! The way Lynn Walker tells the true story of her childhood, abandonment by her father, addiction, and overcoming it is fascinating! After quite a struggle, it's nice to hear a success story! I literally could not stop listening, couldn't wait to hear what would happen next - I often found myself unable to leave my car until I finished listening.
The narrator cleverly does voices of different people. Her narration during Lynn's lowest points of addiction was particularly moving to me - I could feel her pain and despair and elation when her craving was satisfied.
I can't wait for her next book, Breaking Midnight! I wholeheartedly recommend!

Story OK, narrator not
Revisado: 12-28-22
The story is OK. It kept me mildly interested. I liked the twist toward the end. I found the narrator annoying, with her sing song inflection and tone.
