Boring
Revisado: 04-28-25
A very long and boring explanation explaining how Haymitch became an alcoholic, sprinkled with too much bad poetry and unrealistic character actions … worst book in series by far

All Liam Avione ever wanted was to be a Deathbringer. Almost twenty years old now, he’s approaching the last six months of the decade-long training program, hopeful for his future as a protector of the Universe. One, slight problem: he’s got a genetic defect that he’s been keeping a secret. But as the training intensifies, so do his symptoms. Which are really hard to hide when they cause him to puke, pass out, and have a seizure in front of the training cadre.

Interesting idea or premise for a story
Revisado: 02-27-25
I love DJ Mille in his other works with Lee Harden this just never got going, found myself spacing out during the book and not really caring about characters, too much in arbitrary explanation … I’d like my fiction to make sense

only for dog lovers
Revisado: 04-20-24
I'm sure you will like this if you anthropomorphize your dog and have some sort of bumper sticker professing the love of your dog...it was cheesy and oozed with eye rolling dialogue. seriously I've enjoyed a lot of Koontz but this????

the narrator should stick to bed time stories
Revisado: 11-18-23
this could have been an amazing book, great murder mysteryand Inormative, but first of all the juxtaposition of the story vs. voice, inflexion, and tone of the narrator clashed with the subject material. felt like my aunt reading a bed time story narrating a murder real crime story. also the author liked to get side tracked on the plight of native americans at that time which is well documented and was just politically charged and unnecessary for the story. did I mention the narrator was completely wrong for this book, dead wrong.

ignore his noble savage mantra
Revisado: 12-18-21
this is a moderately to sometimes highly entertaining fantasy story with a great delivery by the reader. the author's seemingly constant preaching of environmentalism and then inaccurate assumption that the Europeans destroyed a Noble savage civilization is tiresome and completely innacurate. the indegenous tribes were just as violent to and worse in so many ways.
