Historia
When the External Womb Programme is launched, the news is controversial. Hundreds take to the streets in protest, feeling strongly that growing a baby outside of the human body is "unnatural". But thousands more people rejoice: at last, an alternative for those who wish to have children but worry about the physical toll it may take. A chance that throwing a baby-shaped grenade into one's career path might not derail it entirely.

very depressing and troubling
Revisado: 10-30-24
The story from the POV of the mother and a child of the external womb program gives widely different sides of this story. I couldn't finish this book, but mostly because the Omar character was so depressing in the actor's delivery as well as the story so I couldn't stand it anymore. However, I am an incredibly sensitive person which stands to reason that the emotions and topics in this book might be perfectly suited for someone else. There are several thought provoking subjects in this novel.

quaint, enjoyable, thoughtful, plus a mystery story
Revisado: 06-22-24
I haven't enjoyed a book this much in quite a while
I love mystery stories and am an avid reader and audible fan. This book caught me by surprise because there were many layered characters within this small town, within this small family and witin this story that wasn't a mystery yet also was. I recommend giving it a go and deciding for yourself if this is a story about small town America with a mystery to boot, a story about growing up as the son of a pastor from the view of a thoughtful 13 year old boy or it could be so many things but interesting and thoughtful and interesting are some of the adjectives that came to mind. Listen or read and enjoy for yourself.

I enjoyed this the first and second time and it is definitely worth a credit. The character development is interesting and trying to guess who is who and is capable or willing to do some heinous acts is captivating.

Historia
Clare's grown very fond of Alfred Glockner, the part-time comic and genuinely jolly charity Santa who's been using her coffeehouse as a place to warm his mittens. When she finds him gunned down in a nearby alley, a few subtle clues convince her that Alfred's death was something more than the tragic result of a random mugging, despite the conclusions of the police. Between baking delicious Christmas goodies and fending off the attentions of a persistent professional elf, Clare sets out to solve St. Nick's murder.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Historia
As children, Sam and Elli were two halves of a perfect whole: gorgeous identical twins whose parents sometimes couldn’t even tell them apart. They fell asleep to the sound of each other’s breath at night, holding hands in the dark. And once Hollywood discovered them, they became B-list child TV stars, often inhabiting the same role. But as adults, their lives have splintered. After leaving acting, Elli reinvented herself as the perfect homemaker: married to a real estate lawyer, living in a house just blocks from the beach.

exceptional story and performances
Revisado: 06-08-22
I enjoyed this story. The narrators where both believable and listenable, which is pivotal for me. if the narration is not great I would rather read it myself in an actual book. I related to the struggles and conceptual ideas of each of the characters and I appreciated that they used different actresses for each twin. I really enjoyed all of the twists and turns and surprises although it kept me up all night because I couldn't wait to hear what happened next. Both of the main characters were equally engaging. Which drew me in to feel compassion for both of their disappointing lives. In the end they made the righteousness choice which touched me deeply. I understand the heartbreak that happens when siblings, twins.or not, grow apart so it really touched me.

Historia
Emma Lewis has a lot on her plate. A single mother of precocious twin boys, the last thing Emma needs is a man in her life, especially a doctor. So when the town's doctor goes on vacation and his handsome nephew takes over, Emma is shocked to find him accusing her of being a neglectful parent. Clint also needed a sense of peace and calm to try to find his passion for medicine burned out by long shifts in an urban hospital's ER. Angered to find two boys in his clinic with broken wrists, sans parent, he's determined to confront their mother, who dispels his belief that she's neglectful.

great characters, a little predictable
Revisado: 04-02-22
I really enjoyed this book enough to buy the next book in the series.
What I liked: The narration was really believable and the different voices were easy to follow. I enjoyed listening to both the slight variances as well as times where more drama was needed to express the personalities of each character that displayed the narrator's prowess with character development without over acting. This a compliment, not only to the narrator, but also to the author whose distinctive character deliniation brought to life each character's personality. I applaud the author for well described character personalities.
I enjoyed this story a great deal as I can understand the trials and difficulties which were thrown at the main female character, Emma, whose resilience seemed to know no bounds through hardship and since having her lively twin boys. I respect her for facing up to the fact that in her past marriage she gave so much acquiescence to the consciousnessless husband whose betrayal new no bounds. She faced those dark days and became a force of incredible strength for her twin boys.
Dislikes: While Clint, the "Doc", was a force for good, a sweetheart, and a passionate yet wounded warrior, at some point, his endless patience for all of Emma's tantrums and deeply instilled trust issues was starting to become hard to believe. I know she was f***ed over astronomically by her ex, but Dr. Clint was almost too understanding when it came to all of Emma's load of baggage and trust issues. Her family loved her and was supportive as well as those in her small country town yet as much as she seemed to love Clint, she kind of took her trust issues out on him many times.
I enjoyed this book a lot...enough for 4 stars. I enjoyed the narration and the story, especially the antics of the twins. lol. I would recommend this to those who enjoy some romance and a few twists and turns that reflect the true grit in the trials of life. Definitely worth a credit!
