Campbell leaves behind the cold and damp of the oncoming Chicago winter to spend what he believes will be his last Christmas in the warm and welcoming town of Lost River. She lived at full throttle on stage, screen, and in real life, with highs that made history and lows that finally brought down the curtain at age 47. Judy Garland died over 30 years ago, but no biography has so completely captured her spirit - and demons - until now. From her tumultuous early years as a child performer to her tragic last days, Gerald Clarke reveals the authentic Judy in a biography rich in new detail and unprecedented revelations.

Sad, dreary storytrlling
Revisado: 10-02-23
This is a very dreary dismal book. It is quite clear that the author held no affection for Judy Garland. I prefer biographies that highlight what the person contributed to others in their lives. This book does not do that.

Intriguing story
Revisado: 09-10-23
I found this to be a very compelling story. It held my interest all the way through. I have resigned myself to the fact that modern authors do not have broad enough vocabularies to write a story without filling it with expletives that add nothing to the story.
