Historia
Can changing your thoughts improve your health? We tend to live our lives as though our ailments—our stiff knees or frayed nerves or diminished eyesight—can change only in one direction: for the worse. Award-winning social psychologist Ellen J. Langer’s life’s work proves the fault in this negative outlook as well as the healing power of its alternative: mindfulness—the process of active noticing where we are not bound by past experience or conventional wisdom. In The Mindful Body, Dr. Langer unpacks her assumption-busting findings and outlines her bold new theory of mind-body unity.

Absolutely Incredible
Revisado: 05-26-24
Langer’s Zen Master-like perspective breaths new life into the ivory tower of western psychology. I cannot recommend it more.

Authentic, Relatable, and Unforgettable.

As a fellow attorney that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, it was so meaningful being allowed in to Bruce’s internal landscape. I’d recommended this to anyone who’s ever felt like the other, or feels like the other to the first half of this sentence. 10/10.

Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Incredible, yet sadly ironic in format.
Revisado: 09-13-18
The work was fantastic and incredibly thought-provoking. It peels back the curtain on how data, weather research, and warnings really work.
That being said, I don't understand why a book specifically detailing the significance of data freedom would have signed to an exclusive, non-sharable format. The people I know who need to hear this most, my midwestern-conservative voting colleges and family members, are the same people that would scoff at the idea of signing up to Audible just for a single item. (Especially one that may conflict with their views.) It is disheartening that there is not even a sharable transcript or purchasable .PDF copy. It is a great work and I am thankful that Audible offered it, but something seems immoral about "exclusivity for profit" in the realm of scientific non-fiction. After all, isn't that what this book is really about.
