Definitely a little short and the ending felt inconclusive to an extent. Am so looking forward to the next book. The newest parents and parents-to-be in Mystic Bayou definitely open up so many new ways the stories can go.
I'm also pretty sure that Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis are 1/2 the reason I want to move to Mystic Bayou. They are the perfect narrators for this series, and I've definitely come to expect them when I listen.

I always listen to Audible at a faster speed, but with this one sometimes I had to increase, and then would suddenly have to drop it lower again

Alessa Dean's life is changed forever the night she meets the three bikers while working as a waitress, though it's more a matter of all the wrong things in life converging just as it's offering up an escape route. No part of her personal story is light, and yet she manages to pull herself through it beautifully. At no point in the book does it feel like any one character is less important than the other, something not always easy to do in harem stories. Everly gave each of them distinctly different styles and yet in ways that each of them complimented each other. You could see why they were friends, and also how they could all fall for the same woman without ever begrudging one another.

I've gotten really used to books having more than one narrator if the characters all take turns as the narrators. I was incredibly impressed with Schwairy as a narrator. I realized early on that while there was not an obvious change in her voice, there was a subtle on there as she did the male characters versus the female character. I thought maybe I was just imaging it, but I made my husband listen at a couple different spots and even he thought it was a different person, despite it being a subtle shift. I will definitely be looking for more things that she narrates.

I cannot tell if what the problem was with the book...if it was the narration that just didn’t fit the story or if it was the storyline. I felt like if it was one or the other, I may have liked it so much more. That’s why I gave it an overall 4, but scored the other two has 3’s

While this is the third book in the Shep Harrington series, you can definitely start with this book.

The book was a great illustration of how crimes of the past (our own as well as past generations’ pasts) can be tied into crimes of the present. Most specifically where eugenics is concerned. I think my favorite part though is the lead character’s character. Shep’s compassion not just for those he loves but also the community he wants to help really defines him and makes him a likable hero.

The narrator was great. Good solid voice for crime, I’ll definitely be looking for more he narrates.

Narration was good but not great. Definitely seemed to fit the age of the character, though, which is a good thing.

Lots of twists and turns, though it definitely manages to stick to cozy mystery style.

Liked the main character. Didn’t like her boyfriend. If there becomes more of these (should the author decide to continue in a series following the Thomas & Thomas agency), the very first thing needed is an alternative to him. Cozy mystery series always have the lead in a sort of love triangle.

As FEISTY is the third book in this series, a certain tone has been set. To say that FEISTY is a bit different then that tone, at least in the beginning, would be an understatement of major proportions.

The opening chapter is about Fiona’s daycare classroom and students. Suddenly, a parent who has an order of protection against him shows up to attempt to steal his son, by force if needed. Fiona, in all her Feisty strength, protects her students and classrooms aides...but knowing that doesn’t quite cut the emotional blow.

The book has some laugh out loud funny moments, but not truly enough to ease from the emotional roller coaster it takes you on. I don’t know the last time I left a book with a book hangover this strong. It was definitely unexpected and I feel like I would have wanted to know in advance that it is a more emotionally charged book than the other two were.

Erin Mallon did an awesome narration job.

This is the first book in the series that I felt had a concrete ending. I was almost annoyed with the others for being such cliffhangers, so this made me happy. Looking forward to the next :-)

I received a free copy of this audiobook for an unbiased review.

Overall: I loved the book (and have come to love the rest of the series).

Performance: When I first signed up to listen to the audiobook, I had not realized it was Chad C. Martin's first narration. I had already read the book, and about a half hour in, I was a bit worried that, despite being a big fan of McCallister's Paradise, he was going to lose me...but then something changed. You can hear him growing more confident and less robotic as the book continues. I am now looking forward to the chance to hear him narrate other books in the future.

Story: I know this is the first book in a series, and so meeting the other characters were important. I'm looking forward to learning more about each of the McCallister siblings throughout the series.

Watching Quinn change as he acknowledged his growing feelings for Larissa was definitely my favorite part of the book. Being in love, for better or worse, is about finding someone who makes you want to be the best possible version of yourself. Even the most successful and put together people need someone who holds a mirror up to them and says "This is what you really are" and it felt like that's what Larissa was for him.

Janie was my other favorite character. That best friend who won't back down when they're concerned...everyone needs one. Especially when they're also wild and free.

Felt as though the ending...was sort of rushed. Yes, it concluded everything, but it could have been just a bit longer. At the same time, I know it's part of a series and I hope there'll be more to the story.
