Historia
Cal Hooper thought a fixer-upper in a bucolic Irish village would be the perfect escape. After 25 years in the Chicago police force and a bruising divorce, he just wants to build a new life in a pretty spot with a good pub where nothing much happens. But when a local kid whose brother has gone missing arm-twists him into investigating, Cal uncovers layers of darkness beneath his picturesque retreat, and starts to realize that even small towns shelter dangerous secrets.

It was OK

The narrator is great, and really easy to listen to. The story started off strong, but when the climax was coming towards the end, it fell flat to me. A good story, but just kind of let down that it wasn’t a little better.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Good
Revisado: 07-23-19
I liked the narrator overall, some voices for the different characters would get very similar, but all in all it was done well. The story was great, but the end left me wanting more answers, and I felt like the author took the easy way out.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Good until the ending
Revisado: 09-18-18
Started off great, albeit a little gruesome. Maybe more troubling if you have kids yourself. Anyway, it was great until the last 2 chapters. The story suddenly seemed not believable and I felt disappointed. I can see why this movie flopped. It’s like all the pieces had to align for the twists and turns to work out, which made me literally say out loud- “that would never happen. “ am I glad a listened to it, sure. Am I mad because i see the potential and how it could have been greater, definitely.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

It was .... OK
Revisado: 07-26-18
I think Gillian Flynn writes books like movie scripts. They make better movies than books. I think you could have cut out 5 chapters if this book that just reiterated the same things over and over and still would have had a decent book. The ending was a twist, but it just took so dang long to get to it.

It was OK
Revisado: 07-15-16
The narrator read too fast and ignored punctuation that just had to be there in the actual written version or else I doubt it would have been published! Made it kind of hard to follow. It was almost too easy to tune out while listening and I caught myself wondering what she was even talking about at points. The beginning started off good, the first few chapters are informative, but the last half of the book lost me.
