Historia
When Lila Macapagal moves back home to recover from a horrible breakup, her life seems to be following all the typical rom-com tropes. She's tasked with saving her Tita Rosie's failing restaurant, and she has to deal with a group of matchmaking aunties who shower her with love and judgment. But when a notoriously nasty food critic (who happens to be her ex-boyfriend) drops dead moments after a confrontation with Lila, her life quickly swerves from a Nora Ephron romp to an Agatha Christie case.

Great narrator and I was guessing until the end. I thought it was too obvious at first but I was wrong. I look forward to book two.

A fresh twist on a second-chance romance
Revisado: 01-15-19
I stumbled across this book in my audible romance package and I am so glad I gave it a shot because I'm not a fan of second-chance romances. We meet Clem, the heroine, who dumped Ed, the hot tattoo artist, after she has been brutally attacked and is suffering from amnesia. It's a second chance at romance for two people in pain. Ed is still trying to get over Clem who has no idea what she did to make him so upset.
I found this story refreshing because the characters were so real in their reactions and feelings to the problems they faced. We are there with Clem as she learns about her previous insecurities and the raw feelings she has to deal with while trying to get to know her old self. Meanwhile, we have Ed who clearly had walls up and honestly, I don't blame him. I loved hearing them learn to communicate and learning how to deal with their previous problems.
What really made the story interesting is the idea of someone targeting Clem. I admit I liked this part of the story and it was a catalyst in moving Clem and Ed's relationship forward BUT it was pretty predictable in who the antagonist was and the reasoning why. Personally, I guessed it the minute that particular character was introduced. Luckily, I was invested in the story between Ed and Clem. I couldn't help but want to know how and if they could or would rebuild their relationship. The author did a phenomenal job in building these characters without making the story an angst-filled ride. I hope the siblings eventually get a story too.
I noticed the kindle version will not be available until April which is a pity. I would rather read a book than listen to it but I will surely be getting my copy once it's available.
PS: My favorite character was Gordie. ❤

I'm Officially DONE with these series
Revisado: 03-19-18
Hannah is not a likeable character. She gets worse with each book to be honest. I only started this series because of the Hallmark films starting Allison Sweeney.
After listening to quite a few of these books, I've noticed it's never difficult to figure out the killer. I figured out the twist right before the reveal and the actual killer as well. Getting back to why I don't like Hannah, she acts like she is some kind of victim when it comes to Norman and Mike when it's HER who is treating them horribly. I find it hard to believe that both men would be okay with her solution to their proposals and then the fact that she's kissing a THIRD man. Normally, I wouldn't be too bothered by a character playing the field but it is so inconsistent with her other morals. She thinks it's scandalous for someone to have a tattoo or be in an interracial couple (see previous books). I just can't stand her anymore.
In addition, the author goes overboard on the extra info. I get it. She loves her cat and this is a cozy but spending sooooo much time writing about her cat (which has nothing to do with the plot) can be a bit much.

Is Hannah supposed to be 80?
Revisado: 03-01-18
I'm in the middle when it comes to this series. I had to check and see when this book was released because Hannah seemed to be very shocked that other characters in the book MIGHT have tattoos, be dating someone outside their race, get drunk, pick up women, or have bling put on their teeth. All of that is offensive or shocking to her but a man having an affair isn't and the fact that she's stringing two dudes along and holding hands with both of them at the same time is okay. To be honest, it kind of grosses me out that she kisses both Mike and Norman. *spoiler* She thinks doesn't want to marry her because shes overweight but it's probably because she can't make up her mind about Mike. Also, so much could be avoided if she got a cell phone.
As for the mystery, the author does a good job of unfolding clues and not adding too much filler like other cozy mystery writers do. I enjoy that aspect of this series.

Historia
Even during the holidays, Shannon is more spackle than sparkle, which is why she leaps at the chance to transform a grand old Victorian mansion into 10 charming apartments for homeless families. Filled with the spirit of the season, all of Lighthouse Cove turns out to help - including her best friends, a troupe of far-from-angelic Santa Claus impersonators, and her father, Jack. But their merriment is soon dashed by a heated scuffle between Jack and the miserly president of the bank who's backing the project.

Worst in the series
Revisado: 02-26-18
I'm At Chapter 10 and we are JUST NOW getting to the FIRST murder!!! This book has been so slow and it's sad that you could read the blurb and jump into chapter 11 without missing a thing. Everything that has happened so far has been filler info. The amount of filler included in these books is something about this series that annoyed me but I overlooked because I enjoyed the narration and how well the narrator was able to pull off the book. This was a definite pass but I'm finishing it because I paid for it. Hopefully, the next book won't be so bad.
I've finished the book and it was crazy predictable which is somewhat disappointing.
I'm revising my rating to one star because *SPOILER* if someone leaves a baby in your truck, you don't just keep the kid. You call the police. I feel like Shannon lost her brain in this book and the author just wrote whatever to get a book out. I hope the next book is better because I'm ready to give up on this series.
Also, Mack is not that great of a character so I don't see why Shannon keeps moping around because of him. If the man you've been dating didn't contact you in 6 weeks, he doesn't deserve you. His reasoning for why he didnt contact her was lame. I ship her with Eric. :P

A Delicious Listen
Revisado: 10-22-17
Jessica Summers just wants a spot in Chef Tom's school. Much to her surprise, this hard-working girl is given a spot at the school AND a much-needed job. That's when she meets the delicious-looking Chef Bryan. Will Jessica be able to handle her new job? Or will the explosive chemistry between Jessica and Bryan lead to something more?
This was a fun and light-hearted read that I absolutely enjoyed. I couldn't help but smile as we got to listen to Jessica's inner thoughts. Rachel Mazz also did an excellent job narrating. Kudos to the author, Gaby Cabezut.

An Amazing Story
Revisado: 10-22-17
Debra Goelz is one of the rare authors who has the rare ability to make me laugh aloud. Mermaids and the Vampires who Love them is a story every mermaid lover should listen to. Even if you hate mermaids, you should still listen to it. I had so much fun tagging along with Waverly (and you know she's going to be awesome just by her name alone, am I right?) As she tried to solve the case of who the mernapper is while dealing with Algebra and other fantastical beings. If you enjoy books that transport you into a different world, this is the one to pick up.
To compliment the superb writing is Cassandra Morris who did a phenomenal job reading this book. I love it when narrators totally get a character and she did.
I totally enjoyed this book and hope...No, I KNOW you will too.

She was the one girl I never wanted - until I had her. It was one night, one mistake, something we both wanted to forget. I got rid of the proof. The one piece of evidence that could remind us both. At least I thought I did. When it shows up on the school Buzzfeed, rumors fly. Friendships are tested, and the feels get real. I don't do relationships. I don't open my heart. Especially for a girl everyone knows I hate. What happens during spring break stays in spring break - until it follows you home.

The narration was horrible
Revisado: 07-05-17
I'm so sad. I loved the first three books but the pacing and narration of this one is freaking horrible. The male narrator sounds older than the character should and the way he talks is just weird...like he's trying to sound like a villain in a superhero cartoon. It didn't sound natural and became laughable as it went on. Pass on this one and just read the book.

Revisado: 06-08-17
As an avid listener of audiobooks, I love coming across new authors. This was fantastically done. The characters felt realistic while they went through the ups and downs of navigating through a relationship while dealing with your own issues was very well done. This book made me giggle and smile. At times it made me angry. And yes I will admit, it even made me cry. Isn't that what a good book should do?
